Even the Nissan Frontier Beats the Honda Ridgeline
The results are in as the 2020 Nissan Frontier blazes past the 2020 Honda Ridgeline. According to Q3 sales reports, the Nissan Frontier sells more than the Honda Ridgeline, which is pretty surprising. Let’s see what the Frontier has on the Ridgeline.
The Nissan Frontier outsells the Honda Ridgeline
A report by PickupTruckTalk shows how well trucks sold in America during Q3 of 2020, and the Nissan Frontier sits ahead of the Honda Ridgeline. However, the GMC Canyon came in last place, and Toyota Tacoma is the best selling midsize truck.
The Nissan Frontier landed in 5th place with 26,287 sales for the year, and the Honda Ridgeline landed in 6th place with 23,112 sales year to date. That isn’t a huge difference, the 2020 Honda Ridgeline could potentially catch up. Plus, the Honda Ridgeline had more sales in Q3.
But the 2020 Nissan Frontier starts around $26,790 while the 2020 Honda Ridgeline starts around $33,900, so people get a substantial amount of savings when they pick the Frontier. Plus, both trucks excel in different areas of work, comfort, and play.
Nissan Frontier and Honda Ridgeline features
The Nissan Frontier comes with a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine and provides the best in class 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. It has a maximum towing capacity of 6,740 lb and can carry a payload of up to 1,460 lb. According to AutomobileMag, the Nissan Frontier can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.
The Honda Ridgeline also has one engine option, a 3.5-liter V6 that provides 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lb, which is pretty far behind the Frontier.
The Ridgeline can also carry a payload of up to 1,586, which is more than the Frontier. When tested, the Honda Ridgeline accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, which is barely faster than the Frontier.
But the Honda Ridgeline sits on a unibody frame and only offers all-wheel-drive. This means that it’s less capable of off-roading, compared to body on frame trucks with true 4×4 capabilities. However, the Honda Ridgeline can still handle snow and other slippery conditions.
You’ll only need the Nissan Frontier instead if you have off-roading challenges to tackle. Plus, the unibody suspension helps the Honda Ridgeline drive like a car with a smooth, quiet interior and easy handling.
Honda Ridgeline and Nissan Frontier features
Both the Nissan Frontier and Honda Ridgeline boast having an incredibly comfortable interior. But the Honda Ridgeline has more advanced amenities with a tri-zone automatic climate control system compared to a dual-zone system in the Frontier. The Honda Ridgeline also has an optional Bluetooth speaker in the truck bed.
But the Nissan Frontier shows more innovative storage areas with a multi-level center console, under-seat storage, and dual glove compartment. The Honda Ridgeline allows you to flip the seats up for more storage space as well.
The Honda Ridgeline one-ups the Frontier in terms of safety, though, with standard emergency braking assistance and more. It seems like the Honda Ridgeline is the more comfortable option for daily driving while the Nissan Frontier is the better work truck.
