Toyota has been a pioneer in hybrid technology for decades. The Toyota Prius gets plenty of criticism, but it plays an important role in history. Toyota hybrid tech has come a long way since the Prius launched back in 1997. Today, several of Toyota’s car, truck, and SUV nameplates are hybrids. Here’s every Toyota Hybrid SUV on the market ranked from most to least affordable.

1. The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Starting Price $30,725

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is the hybrid version of America’s favorite SUV model. Consumers love it because it’s inexpensive and even more efficient than the OG RAV4.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid starts at $30,725. That’s just $2,750 more than the gas RAV4. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to make 219 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. The RAV4 Hybrid gets an astonishing 41 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway. Features like standard all-wheel drive make the RAV4 Hybrid worth getting over the RAV4.

2. The 2023 Toyota Venza: Starting Price $34,120

The 2023 Toyota Venza is a standard hybrid midsize SUV that provides great value for the money. The Venza starts at $34,120. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to make 219 horsepower and 164 lb-ft of torque (the same powertrain system as the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid).

The midsize two-row Venza gets 40 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. It may be underpowered for its size, but it’s hard to compete with the value it provides as a small family SUV thanks to its affordable pricing.

3. The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid: Starting Price: $40,220

The Toyota Highlander is one of the most popular midsize SUVs that the Japanese automaker has ever produced. The Highlander is known for its longevity. A new model could easily last drivers for over 17 years of ownership when well-maintained. The average new vehicle ownership period is only about 8.4 years.

The Highlander Hybrid is an improvement on the Highlander because the gas version’s fuel economy is less than desirable. The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid starts at $40,220. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to make 243 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The midsize SUV achieves 36 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid’s standard all-wheel drive and incredible fuel economy make it worth getting over the gas Highlander. The hybrid has also built a reputation of reliability, like its predecessor.

4. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia: Starting price: $58,365

The most expensive Toyota hybrid SUV didn’t become a standard hybrid until recently. The Sequoia nameplate got completely redesigned for the 2023 model year. One of the highlights of its redesign is its new standard hybrid powertrain system.

This new powertrain is a significant improvement because previous Sequoia model years had terrible fuel economy in comparison to rivals. Toyota managed to find a way to deliver even more power while making the full-size SUV more efficient as well.

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia starts at $58,365. It uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine and an electric motor to make a massive 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain system is called the iForce MAX hybrid powertrain. The full-size SUV gets an impressive 21 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. The 2022 Sequoia gets a measly 15 miles per gallon combined. Car and Driver praises the new Sequoia’s “relatively efficient” new powertrain system.

A Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is coming to take the RAV4 Hybrid’s position as the most affordable Toyota small SUV. Toyota has a variety of great hybrid SUV options for consumers to choose from. Let us know your favorite in the comment section below.
