Everything You Need to Know About Toyota TRD Products in 2022
You have probably heard about one of the Toyota TRD products. While it used to be a package for bigger trucks like the Toyota Tacoma truck, the TRD products have expanded throughout the lineup. As of 2022, the Sequoia, 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra all offer TRD upgrades such as the TRD Sport package, TRD Off-Road upgrade, and the Toyota TRD Pro trim.
What is the Toyota TRD Sport Package?
Toyota has various options available for each of its cars, trucks, and SUVs. TRD actually stands for Toyota Racing Development and is part of the in-house tuning department of the brand. The TRD lineup is extensive and exciting these days, but what do the upgrades get you?
The TRD Sport package is now available on trucks like the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma to make it easier to go off-roading. The Sport option is one step in the right direction for TRD-ness. It offers cool graphics, a non-functional hood scoop, and bigger 17″ inch allow wheels. It will also add better fog lights and upgraded suspension. Plus, any version of the TRD gets better paint colors to set your new Toyota SUV or truck apart from the rest of the lot.
What does the Toyota TRD Off-Road Package include?
Another step up is the Toyota TRD Off-Road package. This option gets drivers even better TRD-tuned X-REAS Sport Enhancement Suspension and upgraded Bilstein shocks. CRAWL control is new this year that offers automatic adjusting of the throttle and brakes to assist the driver. “This advanced system automatically modulates the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings so you can keep your focus on navigating across difficult terrain,” Toyota says. The new Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, and Land Cruiser all get this option for the new year.
“Adventure is out there, hidden beyond where the road ends. And the best way to uncover it is with the highly capable TRD Pro Series that brings the toughness you need to conquer the off-road.”
Toyota
The approach angle is slightly better with this Toyota TRD package, offering 32 inches instead of the standard 29 degrees. This makes it easier to get in and out of sticky situations while in the dirt. Toyota added the electronic locking rear differential and wide-angle fogs as well.
The TRD Pro package is available on the Sequoia, 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra
The Toyota TRD Pro package is the ultimate addition to any new vehicle, no matter how you slice it. Special TRD-tuned FOX internal bypass coilovers and springs are added, plus rear remote shocks. A Pro catback exhaust is added, plus a protective skid plate in the front just in case. The TRD Pro gets an even bigger angle approach increase up to 35 degrees. Upgraded TRD Pro black alloy wheels help the trucks and SUVs stand out even more. The Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro was so popular at one point that dealerships were marking the SUV up $30,000. It has forged BBS wheels though!
These days, you don’t even need a Tundra truck or Toyota 4Runner SUV to rock the TRD trim levels. The Toyota Camry and Avalon also have upgraded trim levels. You probably won’t be taking your Camry off-roading anytime soon, but never say never.
