*We honestly have no idea what the Karma pickup will be like but if it continues sending us silly teasers we’ll speculate like crazy*

Those folks at Karma are very sneaky. It’s PR people decided to distribute a teaser shot of a concept pickup truck prompted by Tesla’s Cybertruck. Karma is the company that took over the failed Fisker Karma EV fiasco and is trying to do something more with it. For its sake, it should. But that’s another subject for another time. We’re here to crack the meaning of this mystery image and we think we have. Your sleuths at Motor Biscuit have figured out this image is hiding that the new pickup will ride on a cushion of air!

Yes, that is what is hiding so cleverly from this teaser. It’s not showing any tires or wheel openings because there are none. Everyone is trying to out-shock the pickup world and we think Karma has actually done that. A pickup on a cushion of air. If the technology gets worked out, this could be a game-changer.

We’ve been waiting for a vehicle to glide on a cushion of air since we saw the Jetsons

We’ve been waiting since we were wee little ones watching Jetsons cartoons waiting for the day there would be flying cars. It’s 2020 and we’re still waiting. You would have thought that by 2020 everything would look like a Jetsons cartoon but real, not like a two-dimensional cartoon. Maybe we’re finally at the cusp of that fantasy? 

Think about it. Load ratings and lifted trucks would be a thing of the past. So you want to haul 50,000 pounds? Just crank up the air between your Karma pickup and the ground. Want to go off-road? Crank up the air and glide through the desert, up hilly terrain, and go exploring off-off-road.

Riding on a cushion of air there are no environmental or habitat concerns

Just think, no environmental concerns blasting through Yosemite Park. Or the Grand Canyon. We think that Karma is really on to something. No wonder it was hiding the real reason for making the teaser so mysterious. Call it a “Levipickup” or “Airtruck.” 

There have actually been some vehicles that ran on a cushion of air. The Curtis-Wright “Aircar” comes to mind. Back in the 1950s, CW built two cars that hovered off of the ground. They could travel around 35 mph. They were strange-looking, sort of monolithic-like two-seaters. The lift was made from two vertically-mounted aircraft engines.

Those Curtis-Wright Aircars were cool-but creepy

The idea was fantastic but the technology was just too crude to make it viable. CW was supposedly in talks with the military but the battleground is probably not the best place for trying out novelty vehicles. Can you imagine what it would look like with a bunch of levitating tanks shooting at each other? It would be like bumper cars but with cannons. 

Anyway, our hats are off to Karma for giving the floating truck a shot. If you couldn’t imagine any company would be able to one-up the whole Tesla Cybertruck media frenzy, we think that Karma just did.
