It seems like the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has something that other rival trucks don’t. That something could be interest and popularity because the Ford F-150 Lightning is already stealing fans from the competition. 

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is the most popular EV truck

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is coming hot. According to Inside EVs, the F-150 Lightning is already the most popular truck. It’s currently the most researched electric truck on Twitter. It gets more attention that the GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck. 

This is a bit surprising because each of these other models was announced well ahead of the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Rivian R1T has even already entered production. But these rivals just don’t have whatever is included with the blue oval. 

The F-150 Lightning is by far the most researched option and ranks first in about 28 states. The GMC Hummer EV landed in second place and dominated in 10 states. The Rivian R1T captured eight states, and the Tesla Cybertruck is the top option in four states. 

Why is the F-150 Lightning so popular?

While the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning isn’t out yet, it already has shocking potential. It’s the most researched truck in the middle of the country, which is traditional truck country. Maybe fans like the way it looks. 

The Tesla Cybertruck is pretty far out there, and the GMC Hummer EV has a bulky and futuristic look. But the F-150 Lightning looks like a gas-powered option that people are more used to seeing on the road. However, the Rivian R1T looks square and upright like a traditional truck too. 

But size might be a problem. The Rivian R1T is small than a full-sized option. There’s more space for passengers and cargo in the F-150 Lightning. Plus, it has a larger bed to carry more cargo. 

The next issue might be price. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is expected to start at $40,000. The 2022 Rivian R1T starts at $74,075, and the GMC Hummer EV starts at about $108,700. So, you can save thousands by not going with a luxury option. 

Is the F-150 Lightning better at work stuff?

People might be attracted to the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning because it can get work done. Instead of being a lifestyle or adventure truck, it’s marketed as a work truck that can double as the family vehicle. 

When properly equipped, the F-150 Lightning can tow up to 10,000 lbs, but the Rivian R1T can tow up to 11,000 lbs. The F-150 Lightning is expected to have a payload capacity of over 2,000 lbs, while the R1T can carry up to 1,760 lbs. 

Plus, the F-150 Lightning offers the Pro Power Onboard Generate that we’ve already used on the F-150 PowerBoost. It can charge other electric vehicles, power your campsite, power tools at worksites, and even power your home.
