Fastest Dodge Charger Models Ranked
The reborn Dodge Charger has been putting high-horsepower motors into four-door Mopar grocery getters for over 15 years. As a result, muscle car fans can get their hands on used Chargers as well as newer supercharged SRT products to fit nearly any budget. However, the traction-limited muscle sedan has increased the ponies since 2015 without making any gains in speed or acceleration for the latest widebody Chargers, like the Jailbreak. Here are the fastest Dodge Charger models ranked!
- SRT Hellcat
- Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak
- Hellcat Redeye Widebody
- R/T Scat Pack
How fast is the Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack?
The R/T Scat Pack is the fastest and most powerful naturally aspirated Charger in the lineup. A 6.4L Hemi V8-equipped Scat Pack is good for an angry 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. According to Car and Driver, an R/T Scat Pack can make the sprint to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. With acceleration that furious, the Scat Pack is nearly as quick as some of its supercharged siblings.
Is the SRT Hellcat Widebody or Jailbreak faster than the standard Hellcat?
In 2020, Dodge introduced the Widebody to the SRT and R/T Scat Pack lineups. However, adding the Widebody kit and the extra 3.5 inches to each flank didn’t make the Hellcat any faster. In fact, it made the brute slightly slower. Car and Driver tested the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and discovered that the 0-60 mph time had increased from 3.4 seconds to 3.5 seconds with a wider, newer Charger. Also, the acceleration times are the same for the new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak and its 3.5 second-sprint.
Furthermore, the Redeye Widebody lost a single mph off its top speed, dropping it from 204 to 203 mph. The news continues with the quarter-mile times. The latest Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeyes will cover a quarter mile in just 11.5 seconds. Unfortunately, it’s 0.1 seconds behind the original 2015 sedan.
Is the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat fast?
Dodge unveiled the wickedly fast Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats in 2015 to a stunned car community. The 707-horsepower Hellcats were the equivalent of a nuclear option in the horsepower wars. Better yet, even the first Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was good for a run to sixty in just 3.4 seconds on its way to a 204-mph top speed. Furthermore, Dodge claimed it was the fastest sedan in the world at the time of its release.
Why aren’t the Charger Hellcats getting any faster?
While Dodge Charger SRT Hellcats are getting more powerful, like the SRT Jailbreak with its 807 horsepower, they aren’t launching any more quickly. These supercharged V8 brutes are traction-limited, meaning they’re more prone to melting their tires than gripping with them. In Car and Driver testing, the original Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was quicker than the newer SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and comparable cars.
