Maserati is an Italian luxury vehicle manufacturer that produces vehicles that boast comfort, style, and performance. Maserati SUVs add enhanced practicality to the equation because of their spacious cabin and cargo areas. Which Maserati SUV is the fastest of them all?

Maserati only offers one SUV model, the Maserati Levante. That being said, the Levante comes in four very different trim levels that offer different degrees of luxury and performance.

The Maserati Levante Trofeo is the final Levante trim. It is the quickest version of the Maserati SUV. The Levante Trofeo has a top speed of 187 miles per hour. It can go from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds.

The 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo is mindblowingly quick. Its 3.8-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine makes a massive 580 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. The Trofeo is one of the few SUV models to still use a V8 engine. The growl of its engine is music to the ears of drivers who revel in the Italian sports SUV’s power. Car and Driver calls its exhaust note “spine-tingling.”

The Maserati Levante Trofeo is the quintessential sporty Italian luxury SUV model in many ways. Its carpet, dashboard, and seats are Nero with Grigio stitching. The Levante Trofeo features a Grigio headliner, Nero steering wheel, and high gloss carbon fiber trim.

Is the Maserati Levante Trofeo worth the money?

Italian luxury SUVs come with Italian luxury prices. If you aren’t willing to spend over $87K on an SUV, none of the Maserati Levante trims are for you. Since the Trofeo is the final Levante trim level, it’s nearly twice the price of the GT trim.

The 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo starts at $153,100. The newer 2023 model year starts at a whopping $161,400. Maserati’s SUV makes the Mercedes-Benz GLE Class seem cheap, but that’s because it’s in an entirely different league.

The Levante Trofeo is one step below the popular Lamborghini Urus and upcoming Ferrari Purosangue. It’s the Italian sports SUV that’s expensive, but not completely unattainable. Ultimately, the 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo provides great value for its price. It may not be affordable for the average consumer, but it’s exactly what gearheads are looking for from a sporty luxury SUV.

The Maserati Levante Trofeo is a reminder of the age of the V8

The V8 engine isn’t nearly as popular today as it once was years ago. Many automakers have stopped producing models with V8 engines because they found engines with less cylinders to be more practical and fuel efficient.

The 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo’s turbocharged engine is a huge part of the SUV’s identity. The Levante Trofeo’s V8 proves that these engines still have a place in the automotive industry. It is truly an SUV worthy of the Trident.
