Regarding the fastest SUVs available today, the Ferrari Purosangue and the Lamborghini Urus have to be at the top of the list. However, it’s important to note that comparing the Purosangue and Urus is not an apples-to-apples battle. For one, Ferrari argues that the Purosangue shouldn’t even be considered an SUV. However, this is more of a marketing ploy by Ferrari.

Power and performance specs of the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus

Let’s dive into how the Ferrari Purosangue and the Lamborghini Urus compare when it comes to power and performance. Unfortunately, for the Urus, it seems that the Purosangue has a leg up. 

According to Car and Driver, when it comes to engine and transmission, the Purosangue sports a 6.5L V12 engine and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with an auto and manual mode, which allows for 715 horsepower. In comparison, the Urus is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission which provides 666 hp. 

While both SUVs can go 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds, the Purosangue can reach a higher top speed overall. The Urus tops out at 190 mph, whereas the Purosangue tops out at 193+ mph. 

Ferrari Purosangue vs. Lamborghini Urus: Weight and balance

Moving on to weight and balance, we again find that the Ferrari Purosangue takes a slight lead over the Lamborghini Urus. The Purosangue sports 22 in. front/ 23 in. rear wheels and 15.6 in. front/ 15 in. rear brakes. In comparison, the Urus has 22 in. wheels and 17.3 in. front/ 14.5 in. rear brakes. What really gives the Purosangue an edge in the weight and balance comparison is its impressive 49/51 front/rear weight distribution percentage. 

Size and space of the Purosangue and Urus

When it comes to size and space between these two luxury sport SUVs, the Lamborghini Urus is the clear victor. According to Car and Driver, the Purosangue is the first Ferrari to offer legitimate room for four riders. While the SUV is technically a four-door, it maintains its two-door appearance with slick rear-hinged suicide doors. 

In comparison, Car and Driver notes that the Urus sports the traditional four-door look and offers seating capacity for five riders. However, regarding cargo space, the Urus clearly outperforms the Purosangue, providing 20.3 cubic ft., whereas the Purosangue only provides 16.7 cubic ft. 

Ferrari Purosangue vs. Lamborghini Urus: Price

Our final comparison between the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus is in the department of price. The MSRP of the 2023 Lamborghini Urus is $230,000. In contrast, the MSRP of the 2023 Ferrari Purosangue is a whopping $400,000. While the Urus is clearly the more (relatively) budget-conscious option, which of these SUVs really comes out on top? 

Once again, it’s important to note that the Purosangue and Urus matchup is not a simple apples-to-apples comparison. If a consumer wants a more budget-friendly luxury sport SUV with more seating and cargo capabilities, then the Urus would be the clear option. However, if a consumer wants an exotic SUV that brings all the power, performance, and prestige a person could ever dream of, then the Ferrari Purosangue would be a clear choice.  

While the Purosangue doesn’t come on top regarding size, space, or price, it comes out on top where it matters most when comparing luxury sport SUVs, balance, power, and performance. When looking at overall aesthetics, too, it’s clear that the Ferrari Purosangue is the ideal choice.
