Fast cars can serve as, well, instigators. With massive horsepower figures, sure-footed grip, and flashy looks, it’s all too easy to overdo it and get a traffic ticket. However, some wild drivers, like Rob Ferretti and Matt Farah set out to get the attention of the cops on purpose using fast, loud cars.

Creators Rob Ferretti and Matt Farah staged a ‘First to get a ticket” challenge in a race to get a traffic ticket from the cops

15 years ago, content creator Rob Ferretti set out to create a video detailing a silly challenge. He threw down the gauntlet with fellow car-lover Matt Farah. The challenge? The first driver to snag a traffic ticket from the local police and return home wins.

Therein lies the delicate nature of the challenge. If you can call it delicate. Farah couldn’t simply drive out and “t-bone a cop car.” As such, speed and flamboyance was the name of the game. Consequently, Farah chose the properly unhinged Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and its volcanic supercharged V8 for the task.

When Farah asked which vehicle Ferretti was taking for the traffic ticket challenge, his response was immediate. “Easy enough– the Corvette. It’s a proven cop magnet.” A glance at the ‘Vette confirmed as much. The modified fifth-generation Chevrolet Corvette brandished a giant wing, aftermarket exhaust, and an array of gauges.

Farah attempted to get a ticket by passing a Volkswagen Jetta on the highway shoulder. Might seem like a cheating maneuver in a game to get the attention of the police, but it worked. The patrol car lit up and prompted Farah to pull over.

“I couldn’t have been going that fast,” Farah said to the officer. “Well, you almost blew me over on the side of the road. So, fast enough,” the officer responded. “It seemed like a reasonable place to pass at the time.” It seemed like Farah had his traffic ticket confirmed.

However, Ferretti flew past the officer in the Corvette and stole the traffic stop’s thunder. The officer exclaimed to Farah, “Well, it’s your lucky day!” Then fled back to the cruiser to give chase. In the end, both drivers ended up getting tickets from the police. Well, with triple-digit speeds and attention-grabbing cars, a traffic ticket was bound to happen.
