According to a press release from Toyota, the first 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone and TRD Pro will be up for auction at Barrett-Jackson this week. The auction will benefit the Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund, a recently launched program to support Team USA’s Paralympic athletes. While the Tundra went on sale last month, Toyota will auction the first one off the assembly line.
“In celebration of 50 years of the world’s greatest collector car auctions, we are excited to bring two 2022 Toyota Tundras to this year’s Barrett-Jackson Auction 2022 Scottsdale.”
David Christ | Group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division, Toyota Motor North America
The 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone with VIN 001 will hit the Barrett-Jackson auction floor at 4:30 PM MST on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022. The Capstone trim comes with the first i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain that has made waves since Toyota announced it.
In addition, Barrett-Jackson will auction the second Toyota Tundra TRD Pro with VIN 002 at 6:30 PM MST on Saturday.
What comes with the Toyota Tundra Capstone and TRD Pro trucks?
The 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone is part of lot 3007. It is set to get 437 hp from the hybrid i-FORCE MAX powertrain and 583 lb-ft of torque. The new 22-inch chrome wheels, upgraded leather, and acoustic glass are all included. The truck also comes with a new 10-inch color heads-up display, power steps, a panoramic moonroof, and the bragging rights of VIN 001.
The 2022 Tundra TRD Pro is arguably one of the more popular trucks hitting the road this year. It is on the CrewMax 4×4 body and has the i-FORCE MAX 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain. It gets the same 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. Part of Barrett-Jackson lot 3005, this will be one of the first new Tundras sold in North America.
The TRD Pro will come with extra features to make it ready for off-roading as soon as the payment clears. These features include Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) and Crawl Control (CRAWL). Plus, Fox off-road shocks and a 1.1-inch front suspension lift. The truck also comes equipped with the new sheet-molded compound 5.5-foot bed and a towing capacity of 11,170 pounds.
100% of proceeds will go to the Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund
Toyota does note that both trucks will not be available immediately. Toyota will deliver the 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstoneand Tundra TRD Pro in the spring of 2022. More importantly, though, the Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund will help eligible U.S. Paralympic athletes compete at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. It will also benefit those who competed at the 2020 Paralympic Games Tokyo.
Toyota has helped more than 430 U.S. Paralympic athletes have benefitted from the Paralympic Fund. Toyota has raised more than $3.7 million for the fund. So when the 2022 Tundra Capstone and TRD Pro go for an outrageous amount, it’s all for a good cause.
