Fish Falling From the Sky Smashes Tesla Windshield
Freaky flying fish, Batman! Cynthia Levine was sitting in her home in Atlantic Highlands New Jersey one Sunday when her Tesla Model Y’s car alarm went off. The odd thing was there was no one around who could have messed with the EV.
“The car started honking, it went crazy honking which we had never heard. I didn’t know how to turn it off.” What’s more, the Tesla’s windshield was smashed.
Cynthia found her husband Jeff was already outside. “I went out and he was in the yard somewhere. He heard the crash and everything, but ignored it.”
Cynthia began to investigate the car. What she found only raised more questions. “We were like holy crap look at this, and I said to him, it looks like fish scales and blood on the windshield.”
I know what you’re thinking: Atlantic Highlands must be a coastal town. Yes, but the Levines live a mile from Raritan Bay.
The couple began to wonder if they were the victims of some bizarre prank. Or even more bizarre violence–with some neighbor lobbing fish at their car. But it was obvious the fish had hit the Levine’s Tesla so hard it had smashed the glass. That’s a lot of “oomph” for a throw.
Once upon a time, this mystery of the raining fish would have remained just that–a mystery. But luckily for the Levines, their car was in sentry mode. So they were able to roll back the footage from the parked Tesla. What they found was even more bizarre. Fish hadn’t been tossed or launched from the direction of the ocean. A single huge fish had fallen directly out of the sky. You cans see the footage below:
Then the Levines realized that the culprit was probably their nearest neighbor. But not a human neighbor. Cynthia explained, “We also have an eagle’s nest in our backyard… We think it was probably the eagle.” It makes sense that the bird scooped a fish out of the ocean. But while flying home, its meal must have wriggled free and fallen onto the car.
The Levines sent their Tesla away to have the windshield repaired. Jeff said he’s taken preventative measures in case the eagle goes out for another snack. “I lowered my deductibles, so if any birds are listening, please don’t drop it here because I’m covered now.”
