Fisker Ocean Has 1 Big Advantage Over All Tesla Models
Tesla is the benchmark for electric vehicles — and continues to dominate the segment in terms of sales. However, other automakers aim to take a piece of the EV pie. This includes EV startup Fisker with the Ocean crossover SUV. And there’s one area in which the Fisker Ocean is better than all Tesla models: affordability.
Fisker Ocean is cheaper than all Tesla models
Tesla models are great vehicles — with their sleek designs, quick acceleration, and state-of-the-art technologies. However, one drawback of Teslas is they are expensive — and not affordable for most EV shoppers. Tesla originally touted the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover SUV as more affordable and mainstream alternatives to the Model S sedan and Model X SUV. However, they are still expensive. The 2023 Model 3 has a starting price of $46,990, while the Model Y starts at $65,990.
In comparison, the 2023 Fisker Ocean is considerably cheaper. It starts at $37,499, which is nearly $10,000 less than the Model 3. The price difference between the Ocean and the rest of the Tesla lineup is even more extreme.

Fisker Ocean delivers Tesla-like performance at a more affordable price
Some might be quick to dismiss the Fisker Ocean crossover SUV, assuming that with such an affordable price, it’s lacking on the performance front. However, that’s not the case, for it delivers Tesla-like performance. There are some EVs that are cheaper than the Ocean, such as the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV, Nissan LEAF, and Hyundai Kona Electric. However, the Ocean is the only affordable electric car that can hold its own against Tesla models for performance.
See how the Ocean compares to the Tesla Model Y crossover SUV. With its available dual-motor system, the Ocean generates 550 horsepower, compared to 455 horsepower for the Model Y. The two crossovers also have similar 0-60 mph acceleration times, with it as low as 3.6 seconds for the Ocean and 3.5 seconds for Model Y.
Additionally, the Ocean has a higher driving range. On a full charge, it can drive up to an estimated 350 miles, compared to 330 miles for the Model Y.
Ocean also has unique features that are not available on any Tesla model
Along with its affordability and excellent performance, the Fisker Ocean has unique features that are not available on any Tesla model. This includes California Mode. When selecting California Mode, the Ocean retracts the side windows, rear glass, and roof for a convertible-like layout. The Ocean also offers a unique 17.1-inch touchscreen display, which can rotate vertically or horizontally for either a portrait or landscape position.
Furthermore, while Tesla electric vehicles have an emphasis on environmental sustainability with their zero emissions, the Ocean takes this even further. It extensively utilizes recycled materials, such as fishing nets.
Tesla aims to sell an affordable electric car for the masses, but it falls short with Model 3 and Model Y, which are still expensive. In contrast, the Fisker Ocean is much cheaper. On top of that, it provides Tesla-like performance, offers unique features, and further raises the bar for environmental sustainability.
