A big SUV is great when you need to take six friends and all their stuff with you. As manufacturers are building more EVs and more big SUVs, it only makes sense that several exciting seven-passenger electric SUVs are on the horizon, like the Rivian electric SUV. Today, you can buy a seven-seater all-electric vehicle from Tesla, the Model Y, and several plug-in hybrid SUVs. But if those SUVs don’t do it for you, here are five seven-passenger electric SUVs worth waiting for.

The Rivian R1S is worth the wait

The Rivian R1S is probably the most anticipated seven-passenger electric SUV that folks are waiting for. It looks like an adventure vehicle, and with 14 inches of ground clearance, it should have the chops to go off-roading. You can order one with a comfy air suspension, and it has fold-flat seating. Like the competitive Rivian R1T truck it’s based on, some versions of the Rivian Electric SUV can have four motors with more than 700 horsepower. and more than 300 miles of range.

The R1S has been promised for several years but deliveries have been continuously delayed. Rivian says deliveries for an R1s ordered today will begin in late 2023. The R1S starts at $72,500.

The upcoming Kia EV9

The Kia EV9 is unique in that it’s trying to take on the largest SUVs, like the GMC Yukon. But it’s smaller. It’s big inside, but about 16 inches shorter than a GMC Yukon, yet it has a similar amount of interior room and seats seven or eight. It should have a range of up to 330 miles and start at about $50,000 and be offered in all-wheel drive.

The EV9 should be introduced in 2023 as a 2024 model.

Hyundai Ioniq 7 is looking to build on positive momentum

Kia’s sister company Hyundai isn’t forgetting about the seven-passenger electric SUV market. The Ioniq 7 is expected in 2024 at the earliest. Hyundai should build the Ioniq 7 on the same platform as the EV9, but with a much different interior that is more lounge than a people-hauler.

The Ioniq 7 is expected to compete directly with the EV9, so it should start at about $50,000 and have a similar range and power.

The Mercedes-Benz EQB

Mercedes’ all-electric version of the popular gas-powered GLB became the EQB. The EQB is a compact SUV with seating for seven and all of the luxury and technology packages you expect from Mercedes. It will have big wheels, a big three-pointed star on the grille, and big power. Its third row isn’t super huge, but It can certainly comfortably hold your smaller passenger.

The EQB has a 260-mile range and a 66.5-kilowatt battery. Dealer deliveries should start soon and it will start at $54,500 for the EQB 300 4MATIC Exclusive and $60,350 for the top-line EQB 350 Pinnacle.

The Lucid Gravity is on the way

Lucid is taking orders now for the Project Gravity SUV. If it’s anything like the company’s Lucid Air sedan, it should quickly become a favorite of reviewers like InsideEVs. Lucid has not released many details of the Gravity, but we know it wills et seven in luxury and will likely be the quickest seven-passenger electric SUV when it arrives, possibly in 2023.
