Since the 2009 break up between Dodge and Ram, fans have been divided about how to address the trucks. The 2019 Ram has shocked several customers with a price hike over the 2018 model of nearly $10,000 on the Limited edition, a luxury trim with most of the available features included. Youtuber Doug DeMuro has highlighted the perks of the 2019 Ram 2500 HD in the video below. 

Now that the price difference has been highlighted, why is the truck actually worth $85,000? Is it actually worth $85,000? We believe it is and here are five reasons why!

Excellence in Towing

The 2019 Ram 2500 with Cummins 6.7-liter inline-six-cylinder engine cranks out over 350 hp and roughly 850 lb-ft of torque. This explosive force is channeled through an eight-speed. Paddle-shift transmission or 6 spd. Manual gearbox. The Ram 2500 HD has substantial ground clearance, with the hood standing nearly five feet tall, ensuring that drivers can apply the vehicle both on and off-road. Ram Trucks are famed for their versatility and the 2019 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty is no different.

An optional upgrade to the 2019 Ram upgrades the performance to 400 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. These powerful features are complemented well by the included exhaust brake—for long downward slopes, fifth-wheel attachments, electronically controlled suspension and bed height, and optional 4:10 ring and pinion gear ratio.

Technology IS Your Friend!

Ram has loaded the 2019 model year 2500 pickup truck with technology and gadgets. Backing up to trailers has been a consistent point of irritation for drivers who have no partner to help with backing up to the trailer for hitching, side view mirrors for enhanced backing ability, a top-down view for aligning everything in real-time, and even blind-spot warning panels. 

The touchscreen system in the 2019 RAM rivals that of the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 in terms of size and functionality—though it seems to lack a whoopie cushion function based on our current information. For a quick peek at the inside, please see this video:

User-designed interior

Inside the cab, this truck is a luxurious option, though luxury does not mask its intended utility. The rear bench seats can be lifted to allow owners to fold out a flat, fabric-coated, hauling table in the back of the cab. As for the rear floorboard, recessed storage compartments make keeping organized much easier, especially as it pertains to keeping job site materials separated from personal materials.

The front interior is much like the back—useful, but not devoid of comfort and luxury—you are, after all, paying nearly $100,000 for the truck. The massive center console has two distinct layers. A top layer with a drink holder and a bottom layer for storing larger objects. The top section slides inside of the bottom section, but fear not for losing things! The 2019 Ram includes modular console fences and even a max fill line. 

Driving Safety

What better way to drive defensively than driving a tank? This truck is virtually a tank—standing with a hood height around five feet above the ground with no lift kit or tire size increases, the 2019 Ram 2500 is virtually a tank. Handling in the 2500 is a little rougher than, say, a McLaren, but it is still smooth for a pickup. 

Drivetrain assets are further supplemented by driving assistance systems, such as traction control, blind-spot monitoring, and computer governance. 

Operational efficiency

Whether this beast of a truck is for use on the job site, farm, or just use as a daily driver which can haul, it provides power, utility, and even a set of inscribed mathematical equations and conversions which a foreman or generalist may find useful in a pinch. 

Adding to operational efficiency are several well-placed sets of LEDs for the truck bed, rear collapsible cargo table, paper clip holders above the sun visors, pen holders in the in-door cup holders, and even analog buttons for climate control to prevent menu navigation while on the road.
