If you’re in the market for a midsize truck, both the Honda Ridgeline and Ford Ranger are great options to consider. These award-winning options might be hard to choose between, but only one can dominate the other. 

The Ford Ranger VS Honda Ridgeline 

The Ford Ranger comes out the gate strong, with a lower price than the Honda Ridgeline. The base model Ford Ranger starts off around $2k while the Honda Ridgeline begins around $33k. 

The higher trim options in the Ford Ranger only raise the price to about $32k, while getting a higher trim of the Honda Ridgeline may raise the price to over $40k. 

Also, the Ford Ranger squeaks by with a slightly better fuel economy. It gets  21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, while the Honda Ridgeline only gets up to 19 mpg in the city. 

Ford Ranger And Honda Ridgeline Power 

The Ford Ranger has one engine option, which is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It provides 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. 

The base model can tow up to 3,500 lb, but when properly equipped with the tow package, the Ranger can tow up to 7,500 lb.

To have the best Ford Ranger configuration, you’ll still save thousands compared to the Honda Ridgeline base model. 

Also, the Ford Ranger can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 6.8 seconds, making it one fast truck. 

The Honda Ridgeline comes with a tempting 3.5-liter V6 engine that pumps out 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The base model can tow 3,500 lb, but it can tow up to 5,000 lb if you spend more. 

Plus, the Honda Ridgeline has a slower acceleration and takes 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph. But the Ranger only beats that time by .4 seconds. 

One of the most significant issues with the Honda Ridgeline includes its optional all-wheel-drive capabilities. If you want to handle some snow or gravel, you’ll have to upgrade to AWD. 

If you need to handle mud, snow, go off-roading, etc., then you’ll want the Ford Ranger with its true 4×4 capabilities. 

Ford Ranger And Honda Ridgeline Features 

Both of these trucks offer a touchscreen infotainment center that can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

However, the Ford Ranger can connect to Alexa, your smartphone, WAZE, and has a 4 LTE Wi-fi hotspot. 

But the Honda Ridgeline does offer a music system in the truck bed, giving you the ability to jam outside of your truck. However, you would save thousands with the Ford Ranger and a portable Bluetooth speaker instead. 

The Ford Ranger also has a lot more safety features included. For example, it has blind spot detection for your trailer, auto high-beam headlights, forward collision prevention, and more. 

For off-roading, the Ranger has a terrain management system with driving modes for sand, mud, snow, and more to provide the ultimate traction and performance. 

We see no reason to choose the Honda Ridgeline over the Ford Ranger. The Ford Ranger provides:
