Buying a car is hectic enough without factoring in how much you’ll spend maintaining it over a decade. However, the recent data suggests Stellantis brands have some of the worst maintenance costs on the market. RAM, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and FIAT proved much pricier to maintain than competitors like Volkswagen, MINI, Nissan, and Toyota.

Stellantis, the parent company to many popular American and European car brands has some of the most expensive 10-year maintenance costs, per CarEdge. RAM takes the top spot, coming in at No. 19 of 19.

Car brandAverage 10-year maintenance costsBrand rank
RAM$16,80219
Jeep$11,47618
Chrysler$11,36417
Dodge$11,07916
Ford$9,86015
Chevrolet$9,62514
FIAT$9,10013

CarEdge claims they generate the rankings by “analyzing millions of car listings and other automotive data points.” If the projections are accurate, owners can expect to spend around $16,802 maintaining their RAM truck over a decade. That’s bad news for fans of the standalone truck manufacturer.

News isn’t dramatically better for the rest of Stellantis’ American brands. Jeep took the No. 18 spot with an average 10-year maintenance cost of $11,476. Of Jeep’s trail-ready models, the Gladiator demands the most. The Gladiator has a 10-year maintenance budget of around $11,803, nearly $1,406 more than the brand’s perennially popular Wrangler.

Chrysler and Dodge follow Jeep in the No. 17 and No. 16 spots, respectively. However, the gulf is nowhere near the $5,326 disparity between RAM and Jeep. Instead, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep have similar 10-year costs, around $397 of one another.

Of course, these rankings list popular car brands. They omit pricier, more premium luxury marques like BMW, Audi, Jaguar, and Cadillac. According to CarEdge, Porsche, BMW, Land Rover, and Jaguar all have higher 10-year maintenance costs than RAM.

Data suggests the RAM truck lineup is more expensive to maintain than Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC trucks

The RAM 3500 took the top spot among Stellantis brands regarding maintenance costs. Moreover, the 2500, 5500, and 4500, follow the 3500. The popular 1500 has the lowest average maintenance costs in the marque’s range. However, the 1500 was still spendier to keep than Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC trucks.
