Florida Man Spends $175,000 Building Dodge Challenger Limousine With Five Doors
When you think of a Dodge Challenger, chances are you imagine the Hellcat and its supercharged 6.2-liter V8. However, a particular Challenger down in Florida was tasked with a completely different purpose. According to The Drive, a company called Clean Ride Customs decided to turn the muscle car into a limousine with six doors.
How does a Dodge Challenger end up as a limousine?
A Dodge Challenger isn’t exactly the most common donor car used to build a limousine. The Drive reports that this limousine popped up on eBay for just $32,500. According to the seller, Clean Ride Customs, the base vehicle is a 2013 Challenger with just under 80,000 miles. What is most striking about this build is that the seller claims to have spent over $175,000 to build it. This includes a reported 11-ft stretch to the muscle car that was already over 16-ft long. As a result, this unusual limousine sits somewhere around 27-ft long.
As you may expect, this Dodge Challenger has a bit of a complicated history. This is because the muscle car in question reportedly has a flood title. However, in response to this, the eBay seller claims this occurred seven years ago due to heavy rain in a parking lot. Additionally, the listing mistakenly calls this machine a Cadillac Fleetwood.
No Dodge Challenger limousine would be complete without a snazzy interior, and this one certainly has one. Keep in mind it is just over seven years old at this point. Regardless, this Challenger features a large TV with a bar. To give it a bit of a luxurious touch, the builders gave it an ostrich leather interior. However, one of the most interesting aspects of this build is the six Mercedes-style gullwing doors.
What sits under the hood?
If the pictures haven’t given it away, this is no fire-breathing Dodge Challenger. Instead, this challenger features the base 3.6-liter V6 developing 305 hp. A five-speed transmission then sends the power all the way back to those rear wheels. It would be interesting to see some build images of how all of the necessary drivetrain components are lengthened to make a successful limousine.
As The Drive points out, the 80,000 miles on this powertrain may not be quite easy, given its commercial vehicle status. Additionally, there is no telling what those miles have done to the initial lengthening modifications.
What if I don’t want a Challenger?
If you were hoping to score a used limousine but only found a Dodge Challenger, don’t worry, you’ve got options. This is because the same eBay seller is reportedly selling five other limousines. If you want to go a bit upmarket, there is a Range Rover limousine. However, if you want something a bit more discrete, more than a few Mercedes Sprinter Van limousines are available.
As the eBay seller points out, the Dodge Challenger limousine and all others may be more practical than you think. This is because the seller claims you can utilize these vehicles as rolling advertisements. As a result, that $32,500 you’ll spend could be an unusual yet peculiarly profitable investment.
