Florida man traps himself in a Corvette after trying to steal it and calls for help from the owner
You’ve just finished up a much-needed visit to a coffee shop. Now sufficiently caffeinated, you take a leisurely walk back to the parking garage. However, instead of a patiently waiting and undisturbed car, you find a thief stuck in it. Ridiculous, right? Well, that’s exactly what happened with one Chevrolet Corvette C8 driver after finding a Florida man trapped in his car.
A Florida man trapped himself in a C8 Corvette after trying to steal it and asked the driver to let him out
Julio Solano owns an exotic and luxury car rental company. While an eight-generation Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t fit the “exotic” profile, it’s an understandable ride for someone in that role. Solano drove the Corvette to a parking garage and walked to a Starbucks.
However, after his admittedly quick errand, Solano returned to find a car thief stuck in his C8 Corvette. A bystander witnessed a man open the door of the Corvette and alerted Solano along with the authorities, per NBC Miami. Solano was understandably disturbed but kept his cool as he filmed the Florida man stuck in his C8.
“This is not your car. This is my car.” Admittedly, it was a pretty chill response to finding a would-be car thief behind the wheel of your performance car. Still, the thief, 33-year-old Ravesh Rabindranauth, then requested that Solano free him from the C8’s cabin. The Florida man in the Corvette asked, “Can I get out?”
“No, you can’t get out!” Solano responded to the trapped thief. “This is grand theft auto! Are you trying to steal my car?” Solano then told Rabindranauth that the authorities would soon be there. Soon after, Florida police officers arrested the man. Humorously, the arrest report said he couldn’t get out of the car due to “an unconventional door mechanism he could not figure out.” That could be due to the C8 Corvette’s push-button door operation, rather than a latch or lanyard.
