Admittedly, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Justin Bieber don’t have much in common. One is a 50-0 undefeated career boxing champion, and the other is, well, Justin Bieber. However, both celebrities have an interesting shared attribute: both got a spot on the infamous Ferrari blacklist. What’s more, what Floyd Mayweather Jr. did to get the ban treatment from Ferrari is something car owners do every day.

Ferrari blacklisted Floyd Mayweather Jr. from buying its cars– for selling one of its cars

Boxing champion and promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. loves his cars. In fact, he has a bit of a reputation for buying and selling them within mere months of purchase. It’s understandable, as the athlete has the resources to stay in the latest and greatest supercars.

Still, not every manufacturer is on board with the buying and selling lifestyle. For instance, Chevrolet started mandating that owners keep their Corvettes for a minimum amount of time before they sell them. For Chevy, the move meant to stem the tide of vehicle speculators. However, even with the sheer volume of ‘Vettes, the Ferrari blacklist takes the cake.

Ferrari’s famed blacklist names celebrities, journalists, and the wealthy elite who the brand deems not in line with the marque’s public-facing image. Believe it or not, bans happen more often than you might think. For instance, Deadmau5, a high-profile Canadian DJ, got the Prancing Horse ban for wrapping his Ferrari 458 in a low-res nightmare of blue and a Pop-Tart-bodied cat. Arguably understandable, that. 

As for Floyd Mayweather Jr., his decision to buy and sell cars landed him in hot water with Ferrari. Of course, it’s not the act of selling his supercars and hypercars that irked the Italian marque. No, it was how fast Mayweather off-loaded his ride. Specifically, Ferrari reportedly prefers its clientele to hold onto their new cars for at least one year. 

What’s more, Mayweather’s clout and resources might not be enough to extricate him from the list. Ferrari takes its blacklist quite seriously.
