Ford 2020 Super Duty Highboy Pack: Retro Cool

Part of the appeal of the Ford F-Series pickups is their long history going back to the days of the F1 trucks. Especially the late-1960s through the 1980s were unique with their flat-panel dent side design and rugged performance. So why not capitalize on those classic looks with a unique package for 2020? That is what the 2020 Ford Super Duty Highboy Pack does. It’s retro-cool with a unique combo of factory and aftermarket components.

But you can’t get it from Ford. This is another in a line of special packages available from Long McArthur Ford out of Salina, Kansas. You wouldn’t necessarily need to go to Kansas to purchase a Highboy Pack package. Optioned similarly from the factory and then following along with what the dealership did you could have your own.

Here’s a rundown of what makes a Highboy Pack Super Duty

Long McArthur Ford’s F250 offering saves you the hassle of doing it yourself but the choice is yours. We’ll give you a brief rundown of the meat of the truck and then you can decide. With the 2021 F-Series being all new and coming soon we would expect that combined with the coronavirus crisis there will be some hot deals on 2020 trucks. Check it out and follow along.

All of these special-edition F-250s start off as regular cab XL trucks along with the factory STX appearance package. Available with the STX package are a chrome grille, bumpers, and fender vents. These also come with cloth seats, roof clearance lights, tow mirrors, and more. You’ll even get a serialized dash plaque and certificate of authenticity if you’re into that sort of thing.

The dealership likes to use the 7.3-liter V8 for its special editions

For power, the dealership likes to use the 7.3-liter V8. It is combined with the Power Equipment Group. In the video we have included it is noted that past customers prefer the Godzilla 7.3 in these days of electric and hybrid vehicles. With the wide-open spaces of Kansas, why not?

The visual that stands out the most is the two-tone paint. It is the most distinguishing part of the Highboy. Apart from that, the suspension lift separates it from a stock F250 truck. The two-inch Rough Country lift is combined with 35-inch BF Goodrich T/A K02 tires wrapped around Pro Comp wheels.

A KC polished roll bar with four Daylighter lamps wired to the dash adds an off-road vibe. Window tint, a spray-in bed liner, and a Highboy logo below the “4×4” identifier at the rear finish off the outside.

The Ford Super Duty Highboy package adds $10,000 to the price of an F250

The Long McArthur Ford Super Duty Highboy package adds $8,500 to the price of an F250 truck. Figure around $48,000 and you could be driving out the door with your retro-cool Highboy F250. That also includes a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty.

Or, as we said if getting to Kansas is not part of your plan you can always use the dealership’s approach as a guide. Especially if you are a do-it-yourself type you can probably pull off everything except the paint. For that, you’ll need to hit up the local auto paint shop.
