Ford Just Announced Another Massive Recall: 15 Models Involved
It just seems like another week-another Ford recall. Or Chevy Bolt recall, but this is about Ford’s massive recall announced earlier. In all, 15 Ford and Lincoln models are involved to the tune of over a million vehicles laced over five recalls. We’ll take them one at a time.
Ford’s largest recall of the five is for over 620,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles
The largest recall is for over 620,000 2020 models over issues with the rearview cameras. It includes Edge, Escape, Expedition, Explorer, F-150 and Super Duty trucks, Mustang, Ranger, and Transit. On the Lincoln side, the recall takes in the Corsair, MKX, and Nautilus.
Issues can include no image or a distorted image which could lead to an accident backing up. Owners will be notified starting today. The reference number is 20C19.
Ford’s second recall is over 360-degree camera issues
A camera-related issue is also part of the second recall and involves the 360-degree camera. Over 354,000 vehicles are being recalled including the 2020 and 2021 Explorer, Lincoln Corsair, and Aviator. The image can go blank which could result in an accident. Ford’s reference number for this is 21V735 and the NHTSA’s is 21S44.
Almost 10,000 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks in the US and almost 1,000 in Canada are being recalled over improper welds on the front axle. The welds could affect the steering, making the truck pull left or right. It can also affect the steering feel through the wheel. If the dealer finds bad welds it will replace the axle assembly. The Ford reference number is 20S56.
Another recall takes in over 40,000 2020 Mustangs
Ford’s next recall is for over 40,000 2020 Mustangs that may have fractures in the brake pedal bracket. Brake pressure can be affected, leading to the potential for an accident. Dealers will replace the pedal bracket. Ford’s reference number is 20S52.
The fifth and final recall is for over 126,000 2011 to 2013 Ford Explorers for suspension issues. If one of these Explorers has had a rear tow link cross-axis ball joint replaced, that replacement could seize. That could fracture the toe link.
Here’s where you can go for more information
