Ford Bronco Driver Does Donuts in MLB Stadium Outfield, Gets Arrested
One San Diego resident is not doing well after finding out spring training was postponed. A man decided to take out his frustrations on Petco Park stadium, where he drove onto the field in a Ford Bronco. We don’t know if that’s the real reason for the visit, but it does align well with the timing of the postponement. The far more likely answer is that the person just wanted to do something stupid that day. Here’s a video of a man in a Ford Bronco doing donuts in an MLB stadium outfield before getting arrested.
Bronco in the outfield: Man arrested for MLB stadium driving
The San Diego man drove through the stadium’s tunnel and onto the baseball field in his Ford Bronco. From there, he began doing donuts in the outfield, which alerted just about everyone in the area. The staff at the stadium took a forklift and parked it where the Bronco driver entered, blocking his exit. Thanks to their quick thinking, the police arrived and quickly arrested the man who had no way out.
According to The Drive, an eyewitness who works in the offices above the park saw it all unfold. Ryan Carlson was confused at first; he told the San Diego Union-Tribune, thinking the driver had permission to be there. A Bronco doing donuts on the field is so outlandish that people assumed it’s supposed to be happening. However, after only about a minute, according to Carlson, grounds crew workers made their way over to the SUV.
Thankfully, the man got out peacefully as the grounds crew made what Carlson called a “citizens’ arrest” on the field. Subsequently, they walked him away from the vehicle and sat him down to await police arrival.
What charges did the police arrest the driver for?
Lieutenant Adam Sharki told the San Diego Union-Tribune that officers arrested the man for felony vandalism. According to California Legislative Information, felony vandalism is “every person who maliciously commits any of the following acts with respect to any real or personal property not his or her own, in cases other than those specified by state law, is guilty of vandalism”:
- Defaces with graffiti or other inscribed material
- Damages
- Destroys
The official punishment varies based on damage, charges pressed, and many other factors. However, the California Legislative Information says it can range from a fine of $400 up to $50,000 but cannot exceed that amount. Additionally, prison time is a possibility depending on the severity of the crime. In conclusion, this man’s day of fun is likely a huge mistake. While something like this sounds funny in friendly conversation, it’s never a good idea to infiltrate a professional sports stadium.
Ford Bronco does donuts in MLB stadium outfield
No matter how upset you might be about the MLB season delays, the answer isn’t doing donuts in the outfield. The Ford Bronco driver showed how easy it is to get arrested and slapped with a huge fine. In only a minute of driving, he caused plenty of damage to the field. Lastly, think of the workers at the stadium that now have to repair all the damage. This Bronco driver made a lot more work for them, and they did nothing wrong. In conclusion, that’s how a Ford Bronco SUV driver was arrested for doing donuts in an MLB stadium outfield.
