If you’re the outdoors type, Ford may have the vehicle for you. Not only is the base-model 2021 Ford Bronco rugged enough for off-road travels, but the Bronco Sport is also built for those who fill their weekends with outdoor activities. In fact, it may well be the best vehicle for bikers and boaters.

The 2021 Ford Bronco at a glance

The Ford Bronco, which comes in a two-door or four-door body style, starts at $29,995. For that, you’ll get a 2.3-liter turbo inline-four engine producing 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It can also two a respectable 3,500 pounds. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard.

But if you want a different transmission or engine, Ford provides them as options on the base model and as standard on higher trims. You can purchase a base model with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine and a seven-speed transmission or a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with a 10-speed transmission. The base model also comes with 16-inch all-season tires, an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, and cloth seats.

For all trim levels, except the Wildtrak and First Edition, you can purchase the Sasquatch package. It includes 35-inch mud tires and an upgraded suspension and shock system. This comes standard on the Wildtrak trim — a model that also comes standard with the 2.7-liter engine, heated cloth seats, and carpeted flooring. This model starts at a whopping $50,370, but it’s ideal if you envision desert or swamp action.

The premium trim, the First Edition, might be hard to find because only 3,500 were manufactured. However, you’ll discover enhanced bumpers and suspension systems, along with adaptive cruise control. You also get a 10-speaker sound system, wireless charging capability, and a voice-controlled infotainment and navigation system. This trim starts at $60,800, but it’s perfect if you want a bit of luxury as you conquer every terrain.

What’s inside the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?

The new Ford Bronco Sport is not a trim level. It’s actually a compact version of the Ford Bronco and boasts many of the same features. With an eight-speed transmission, the base model packs a 1.5-liter turbo I-3 engine producing 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. It can tow 2,200 pounds. You can purchase it with a 2.0-liter turbo-for engine for 245 hp, 270 lb-ft of torque, and an extra 200 pounds of hauling capacity. All-wheel drive comes standard. However, a torque-vectoring AWD system is available for the Badlands trim.

The interior is spacious enough to fit a couple of bikes and other equipment. There are also storage bins under the back row. You have the option of a slide-out table in the cargo hold that can be used as a workspace. And each model comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which can be upgraded to take voice commands.

Standard advanced safety features abound. They include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and automated emergency braking. But it’s not these features that make the Ford Bronco Sport perfect for biking and boating. Nor is it the upgraded suspensions, shocks, or wheels found on higher-level trims.

Here’s what makes the Ford Bronco Sport perfect for biking and boating.

Why it’s perfect for adventure

A recent leak of Ford Bronco accessories made its way online, MotorTrend reported. Shortly thereafter, Ford announced five accessory packs that dealers can install in Ford Bronco Sports that improve storage space, enhance comfort, and, in some cases, are just plain cool.

If you’re looking for adventure in the woods, check out the “Camping” pack. It comes with a two-person rooftop tent, crossbars, and an awning. Looking to get out during winter? The “Snow” pack comes with a rooftop ski rack. And the “Cargo” pack lets you transport extras safely with a 16-cubic-foot cargo box on the roof.

But the final two packs are what make the Ford Bronco Sport perfect for biking and boating. The “Bike” pack includes roof rail crossbars, all-weather floor mats, and a trailer-hitch-mounted bike rack. And the “Water” pack includes an awning, a kayak carrier, and crossbars. These accessories significantly enhance this compact SUV’s capacity for outdoor adventure.

The already durable and rugged Bronco Sport will get you to the mountain trail, bikes in tow. Or it will take you to the lake or rapids with your kayak ready to go. A properly tricked-out Ford Bronco Sport is indeed perfect for bikers and boaters alike.
