Potential Ford Bronco Sport brake problems
There are tons of complaints racking up because the Ford Bronco Sport may be prone to making a loud moaning nose while backing up. The loud, droning moan is being compared to how whales sound, which isn’t always the most peaceful sound.

There was also a recall for the 2021 – 2022 Ford Bronco Sport models related to a brake system issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) determined that the vehicle might not stop in time.
Ford is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue, and it’s caused by the rear brake linings. They prevent the brakes from gaining enough friction to stop. The power brake assistance could also be inoperative.
Plus, the 2023 Bronco Sport was recalled due to a leak in the anti-lock braking system (ABS) that resulted in inconsistent stopping power. However, both recalls corrected the issues at no cost to owners.
How reliable is the Bronco Sport?
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport has a reliability rating of 82 out of 10 from J.D.Power. The 2023 Bronco Sport earned an 87 out of 100, indicating that the Bronco Sport could be improving. Scores between 81 – 90 are above average, and anything in the 91 to 100 range is best.
Now the 2023 model has a score of 87, so that’s an excellent improvement to consider. The score increased by five points, indicating that previous issues may have been corrected.
Surprisingly, the Bronco Sport improved by five points in one year. Faulty brakes must not stop its progress. The average Bronco Sport is expected to reach 200,000 miles. This projection is based on similar models in the lineup, like the Ford Escape.
But the Ford Escape can make it to 300,000 miles. With a few more years for the Bronco Sport to be put to the test, it could become more reliable. It has only been on the road since 2021, so it’s a young SUV.
How safe is the Bronco Sport?
The Ford Bronco Sport is incredibly safe. It was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It earned a ‘Good’ rating in every crash simulation, which is the highest score possible.
It also earned a ‘Superior’ rating for its collision avoidance systems. It avoided collisions at speeds of 12 and 25 mph. During the 37 mph test, speed was reduced by 34 mph, and a warning was issued two seconds before impact.
