The Lincoln Nautilus is a spacious, comfortable luxury crossover. But it doesn’t stand on its own. The Lincoln Nautilus has an equivalent model from Ford.

Is the Lincoln Nautilus just a dressed-up Ford Edge?

The Ford equivalent to the Lincoln Nautilus crossover SUV is the Edge.

The Nautilus and Ford Edge ride on the same platform with the same wheelbase, engine options, and overall architecture. The two midsize crossovers are undoubtedly similar, yet some differences remain to consider.

The Nautilus has a higher starting price

Unsurprisingly, the Lincoln Nautilus has a higher starting price than the Ford Edge.

As the luxury version of Ford’s midsize crossover platform, the Nautilus starts at $46,220 in its base trim. According to Car and Driver, the Nautilus bumps up to $52,435 for the Reserve trim and $68,640 for the Black Label trim.

The Ford Edge has many more trim levels by contrast, and none climb as high in price as the Lincoln Nautilus. C/D says the Edge starts at $39,440 and climbs up to $47,980 in its top trim.

They have identical engine options

Although the Lincoln Nautilus costs more, it has the same exact engine lineup as its Ford equivalent.

Both the Nautilus and Edge come standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making about 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. C/D does report that the Edge earns a slightly higher efficiency rating than the Nautilus despite using the same base powertrain.

Both models offer a turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine if you need more power. This powertrain bumps output to 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

More luxury options are available in the Lincoln Nautilus than in the Ford equivalent

The Lincoln Nautilus positions itself as a legitimate luxury crossover, offering the options and features you’d expect from such a vehicle. While its Ford equivalent has plenty of upscale options, it falls short of the Nautilus.

C/D says the 2023 Nautilus is loaded with premium materials throughout the cabin and a range of helpful technology options. Features like massaging seats and a digital gauge cluster give it a leg up on the Ford Edge.

Will there be a new Lincoln Nautilus?

Lincoln is rolling out an all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. C/D says the new model will be completely redesigned with a new engine, looks, and technology. We’ll have to wait and see whether the 2024 Nautilus keeps its similarities to the Ford Edge.
