Is the Ford Everest Better Than the Ford Ranger?
Are we really missing out on the Ford Everest? It’s an SUV that’s based on the Ford Ranger, which we can actually have in the United States. The 2023 Ford Ranger provides some incredible upgrades, but it still seems like something is missing.
The Ford Everest vs. Ford Ranger
It’s hard to determine which vehicle is better because SUVs and trucks meet different needs for drivers. However, the Ford Everest and Ford Ranger are very closely related. You could call them fraternal twins.
The 2023 Ford Ranger and 2023 Ford Everest both ride on the upgraded Ford T6 platform. The Everest is a highly capable off-roading SUV with seven seats, while the Ranger has five seats and a truck bed.
According to Kelley Blue Book, the 2023 Ford Ranger is expected to start at around $28,000. The 2023 Everest price converts to about $36,344 USD. At least we can save with the Ranger because it’s manufactured here. However, the Everest could easily be manufactured in the United States too.
Does the Ranger or Everest have more power?
The 2023 Ford Ranger has a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine with 254 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. A smaller 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine is offered as well. But these engines might only be available in other countries.
In America, the 2023 Ranger has a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. A hybrid variant may arrive later. The Ford Ranger Raptor is gaining a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 392 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
The 2023 Ford Everest is expected to have the same engine options available, depending on the market. Powertrains in both vehicles can be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a six-speed manual transmission. However, we might not get the manual option in America.
When properly equipped, the 2022 Ranger can tow up to 7,500 lbs. The 2023 model might have an increase in power. The 2023 Ford Everest can tow up to 7,716 lbs. Also, the Ranger can carry a payload of up to 1,860 lbs, while the Everest’s official payload capacity is difficult to find.
Both vehicles are ready to tackle the wild. The Ranger Raptor borrows equipment from the Ford F-150 Raptor, and the Everest can ford water up to 2.6 inches deep, which is only a few inches behind the Bronco Raptor.
Does the Everest or Ranger have better features?
The 2023 Ford Everest and 2023 Ford Ranger have extremely similar interiors. However, the Everest is being advertised with a serene ride. It may have a smoother ride and a quieter interior than the Ranger.
Both vehicles can be equipped with a 10.1 or 12.0-inch vertical touchscreen. They can be paired with an 8.0-inch or 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster display. We know that the Ranger will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Everest has a 360-degree camera to help avoid obstacles, and we hope the Ranger gets this camera too. But the Ranger can brag about a new zone lighting feature to illuminate job and campsites.
It’s tough to pick a winner between the two. The Ranger offers more utility with a truck bed, and the Everest has extra seats and cargo space. We wish we could sit behind the wheel of an Everest model, but we have the Bronco and Explorer here instead.
