When it comes to favorites, it’s no surprise that the newest rendition of the coveted Ford Bronco quickly took the spotlight. The redesign might have been harshly criticized by some, but still loved by many. Combined with the latest upgrades to the vehicle’s all-terrain capabilities, there is already a culture growing around the modern SUV. In fact, Ford decided that it wasn’t just enough to give fans of the Bronco just the car itself, they wanted to give it a whimsical backstory. In a one-minute video, you can hear Ford explain the Bronco‘s origins and a joking backstory behind the vehicle’s GOAT modes, and how it raised by goats.

Raised by goats

You probably had the same reaction to the title that I did — “What?”. But yes, Ford themselves created a small series of videos to give the car an enjoyable, and even somewhat logical, backstory. Obviously, the car itself has nothing to do with goats, but in the short video, you can understand why the connection was made. In fact, it highlights the car’s appropriately named GOAT features and explains where the concept originated.

Why goats?

With so many agile and impressive animals to chose from, it’s interesting to see Ford settle on the goat. While other manufacturers pick predatory animals such as the Cobra or Viper, the goat might make more sense than you realize at first glance. Mountain goats are surprisingly agile, and if you’ve ever watched a nature documentary about them, you know that they can tackle some seemingly impossible terrain with exquisite grace and expertise — something the Ford strives for in the Bronco.

G.O.A.T.

At the end of the video, Ford goes onto explain that the acronym G.O.A.T also has meaning for the Bronco, “Goes Over Any type of Terrain.” In fact, the Bronco itself has seven available “GOAT” modes that can adjust the car’s driving features to help it expertly tackle any type of terrain — much like a mountain goat. The video doesn’t go into painful detail about what each and every one of the seven GOAT modes entails, but we can imagine that each is as exciting as the next.

With the Ford Bronco, it is clear that the manufacturer isn’t just aiming to make sales, but rather nurture the culture of off-road camaraderie and give fans a little bit of an inside joke. Briefly highlighting the car’s well-developed GOAT features, the idea that it was “raised by goats” is merely a playful way to depict the car and its off-road capabilities.
