Skip the Ford F-150 and Choose One of These Alternatives Instead
While the Ford F-150 may be America’s bestselling pickup truck, that doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for everyone. Fortunately, there are several alternatives to the Ford F-150 worth your consideration. So if you aren’t quite sold on this year’s model? We recommend checking out these Ford F-150 alternatives before making any final buying decisions.
The Toyota Tundra is a reliable alternative to the Ford F-150
There’s no beating around the bush here. According to Consumer Reports’ data, the Ford F-150 isn’t the most reliable pickup on the market these days. In fact, this year’s model earned itself a two out of five predicted reliability rating, which is definitely not a score worth writing home about.
Unfortunately, that’s not the first time the F-150 has struggled with reliability, either. Consumer Reports’ data shows that the 2020 Ford F-150 earned a dismal one out of five reliability rating. Meanwhile, the 2019 F-150 earned a three out of five reliability rating.
The good news is that the Toyota Tundra makes for a reliable alternative to the Ford F-150. According to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Toyota Tundra earned a four out of five predicted reliability rating. Consumer Reports also gave the 2020 and 2019 Toyota Tundra a five out of five predicted reliability rating, which is quite the difference when compared to the F-150.
Consumer Reports says there’s a lot to like about the Ram 1500
Of course, reliability isn’t the only factor to consider when shopping for a new pickup. You’re also going to want to take into account things like owner satisfaction. Fortunately for the Ford F-150, Consumer Reports’ data shows that this is an area it excels in. Though, that really shouldn’t be all too surprising, considering the Ford F-150 has been a bestseller among its segment for a very long time.
The Ford F-150 isn’t the only pickup leaving its owners dazzled, however. According to Consumer Reports, much like the Ford F-150, this year’s new Ram 1500 earned a four out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating, making it a worthwhile alternative to the Ford F-150. Choose this pickup, and Consumer Reports says you’ll be most impressed by its driving experience, comfort, and styling.
Consumer Reports isn’t the only one singing the Ram 1500’s praises, either. Car and Driver reports that when it comes to the Ram 1500, “Higher trims add upscale materials and creature comforts that make the Ram feel more like a luxury vehicle than a pickup truck.” When shopping for an alternative to the Ford F-150, such a recommendation is pretty hard to argue with.
Consider the Chevy Silverado as an alternative to the Ford F-150
Now, when it comes to comparing the Chevy Silverado and the Ford F-150, this year’s F-150 does have the edge in numerous areas. It can tow more than the Silverado and is available as a hybrid model. These two pickups are also very close in price.
However, there are a few reasons to consider the Silverado as an alternative to this year’s Ford F-150. They differ in styling, and the Chevy Silverado offers some features that the F-150 doesn’t. For example, while the Chevy Silverado is available with a multi-camera towing system, the F-150 isn’t.
