There’s nothing quite like a diesel-powered pickup truck. They can tow, haul, and are known for being extremely durable. But when it comes to this year’s new Ford F-150, is it actually available with a diesel engine? After all, most of the chatter surrounding this year’s new F-150 has been about the pickup’s newly available hybrid powertrain. 

The Ford F-150 offers up plenty of engine options

There’s no denying that this year’s new Ford F-150 is available with a long list of engine options. Standard on the Ford F-150 is, however, a 3.3-liter V6 engine. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the F-150’s standard V6 engine offers up 290-hp and 265 pound-feet of torque. For added horsepower, consider upgrading to the Ford F-150’s available 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which boasts a full 325-hp and 400 pound-feet of torque to its name.

Those aren’t the only engine options available either. This year’s new Ford F-150 is also available with a 5.2-liter V8 engine that delivers a best-in-class maximum payload capacity of 3,325-pounds. A 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 is available as well and will have you towing up to 14,000-pounds. 

And if those still aren’t enough options for you? Not to worry. Additional options for this year’s Ford F-150 include a newly available 3.5-liter PowerBoost full hybrid V6 engine and a 3.0-liter PowerStroke turbodiesel engine. 

Is the Ford F-150 available with a diesel engine?

Yes, the Ford F-150 is available with a diesel engine. Its available 3.0-liter PowerStroke turbodiesel engine makes for a pretty impressive pick too. In fact, when it comes to towing and hauling, the F-150’s available diesel engine offers up a max towing capacity of 12,100-pounds. It also boasts a maximum payload rating of 1,840-pounds, which is definitely nothing to scoff at.

With a diesel engine under its hood, the Ford F-150 makes for a fairly fuel-efficient truck too. According to the EPA, you can expect a diesel F-150 to deliver an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. All in all, that’s not too bad for a pickup truck.

An available diesel engine isn’t the only reason to choose the F-150
