Will the Ford F-150 Last 250,000 Miles?
The Ford F-150 has long been one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States. It seems like folks just love the F-Series truck in all of the forms it comes in. But is it actually the longest-lasting truck? In a recent study, the F-150 appears to be below average when compared to other pickups that can make it to 250,000 miles.
How long do trucks last?
Generally speaking, pickup trucks can achieve well over 150,000 miles. It seems like 250,000+ miles isn’t too high to expect from a truck, especially one from the modern era. Unfortunately for the Ford F-150, it seems like this vehicle isn’t as likely to hit 250,000 miles as often as some of the other full-size trucks out there.
In a recent study, the F-150 is actually in 11th place on the list of longest-lasting trucks. And that might come as a bit of a surprise considering how popular F-Series trucks are. This pickup actually ranked under the Toyota Tundra and the Chevy Silverado 1500.
How long does the Ford F-150 last?
According to a study conducted by iSeeCars, the F-150 has a 19.2% chance of hitting 250,000 miles. This study includes vehicles sold between 2012 and 2022, and iSeeCars analyzed over 260 million vehicles to get the results.
19.2% might not seem like that low of a number, but it is actually below average when compared to other pickups. The average truck has a 25.9% chance of achieving 250,000, with some models like the Toyota Tundra, having much higher odds.
This isn’t to say that the F-150 can’t make it over 250,000 miles. I’m sure some of the F-Series owners reading this might have over 300,000 miles on the clock. Most recent years of this pickup truck are seen as reliable. And new vehicles do tend to last longer than the cars we had in the past.
Americans love the F-150
Drive on almost any road in the United States, and you’re bound to see a Ford truck like the F-150. These pickups are known for being tough and capable, which attracts the attention of consumers. Even for folks who don’t do truck stuff, the F-150 is sometimes the vehicle of choice.
I’m sure you know someone who owns an F-Series pickup that doesn’t actually tow or haul. And if they do, maybe it’s once a year.
Americans have a love affair with trucks. And the Blue Oval has been able to capatilize on that. Next to brands like Ram and Chevy, Ford is known for making some of the most popular pickups on the market.
In fact, Ford is building an electric version of this full-size truck known as the F-150 Lightning. Orders are already being delivered, but the Blue Oval is ramping up production in order to keep up with the high demand.
