If you are a truck enthusiast or potential owner, you probably know that each vehicle is unique. They are all trucks, but different brands and models have different configurations and trims. However, once in a while, there come two trucks, worlds apart, with similar features. The Ford F-150 Lightning and Honda Ridgeline are top-of-the-line trucks which, while distinct, have a similarity; trim levels.

The Ford F-150 Lightning and Honda Ridgeline are different

So, how is the Ford F-150 Lightning different from the Honda Ridgeline?

The Ford F-150 Lightning is a full-size electric truck powered by two electric motors producing between 452-580 hp and up to 775 lb-ft of torque. With this pickup, you can haul up to 10,000 pounds of cargo (with an extended-range battery). It has an EPA estimated driving range of between 230-320 miles.

Car and Driver calls the Honda Ridgeline a stellar performer for daily on-road activities. However, it may not be as good a performer for heavy-duty work or off-road driving like other pickup trucks.

It comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque with a nine-speed automatic transmission. On the downside thanks to its unibody design it can only tow 5,000 pounds, a few pounds short of the Ford Ranger

A small similarity between the Ford F-150 Lightning and Honda Ridgeline

The Ford F-150 Lightning and Honda Ridgeline are two different trucks with their unique features and capabilities. Despite these differences, they share one significant similarity: they offer just four different trim levels.

This is a notable departure from the norm for pickup trucks, which typically offer many trim options, sometimes numbering in the double digits. For instance, the RAM 1500 has nine trims, and so does the 2022 Chevy Silverado.

The Ford F-150 Lightning trims include:

  • Pro
  • XLT
  • Lariat
  • Platinum

On the other hand, Honda Ridgeline trims include:

  • Sport
  • RTL
  • RTL-E
  • Black Edition

The decision to offer just four trims is interesting. It may suggest each automaker understands what you and other potential owners want and need from pickup trucks. Or, it may be to lower production costs, standardize certain features across the various trims, or offer a simpler selection of options.

Whatever the reasons, one thing is certain, offering the four trims will benefit you the most.

What does this similarity mean to you?

Let’s face it, picking a truck isn’t always a walkover. With so many trims to choose from, that task becomes several levels harder!

Fortunately, the similarity between the Ford F-150 Lightning and Honda Ridgeline benefits potential owners in several ways:

Fewer choices to make

There are only four trims from each model to choose. It’ll be much easier to navigate the process and select the right truck for your needs. You won’t suffer the agony of researching tens of trims from a single model.

Easier to find the right features and options

When there are dozens of different trims to choose from, figuring out which has the specific features you’re looking for can be painstaking.  Fortunately, with only four trims to choose from, it’s much easier to find the right combination of features and options that meets your needs.

Save time and resources

Researching various trucks before hitting the dealership is vital but take time and resources. Imagine researching all nine 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 trims!

The few trim levels available can simplify the research process, saving you significant time and resources.

Make a better-informed decision

Fewer trims mean reduced confusion and uncertainty, it’s easier to compare features, potential for better value, and a simplified decision-making process.

The information you must know is less overwhelming, and the decision will be more straightforward.
