Ford F-150 Lightning Ford Charge Station Pro and Connected Charge Station Info
As Ford is ramping up to get the F-150 Lightning into the owner’s hands, information about the Ford Charge Station Pro is out. The Ford Connected Charge Station is also what the automaker recommends for the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV and the E-Transit vans. What do we know about the Ford Lightning Charger and new Mach-E chargers?
The Ford Charge Station Pro for use with the Ford F-150 Lightning
After a slight delay, the Ford Charge Station Pro is the home charger for the brand-new Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck. For those who opted for the standard battery, this home charger is a good idea to keep your Lightning charged up. Ford says, “It gives. It takes. It works with you, then for you. Unlock the full potential of the F-150 Lightning.”
If you ordered an Extended Range Lightning, Ford includes the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro with the truck. This charger offers Intelligent Backup Power that can help keep your home charged up in the case of a loss of power. Of course, this requires the house to be adequately equipped and set up beforehand. Ford says the F-150 Lightning with the Extended Range battery can keep a home going for three full days, or even 10 days if rationed.
The new Charge Station Pro will add 30 miles of charging per hour on the Extended Range and 19 miles per hour on the standard range battery. The automaker says the Lightning charger will be available this summer.
Ford Charge Station Pro MSRP: $1,310
Sunrun can install the Ford Charge Station Pro for the F-150 Lightning
The Ford Charge Station Pro uses the Industry-standard CCS1 Charge Cord compatible with most electric vehicles. This charger provides Level 2 charging capability, and Ford is recommended Sunrun as the installer. Sunrun has not yet released pricing information, but buyers can get an estimate online. Unfortunately, Sunrun is only in 22 states, which leaves a variety of people unable to use it. The Sunrun process to get the Charge Station Pro installed starts with an estimate, followed by payment, site survey, and installation.
For those who want the Ford Intelligent Backup Power with the Home Integration System hardware for the Ford F-150 Lightning, deliveries will begin in the Spring of 2022. That’s around the time the Lightning will start deliveries as well.
The website says that buyers should be able to install the Ford Lightning charger before the electric truck gets there. The company also says you can get the Home Integration System sent to you and installed by a third party.
Sunrun Ford Charge Station Pro Installation: TBD
