The R1T has an entire suite of driver assistance and safety features called Rivian Driver Plus. Driver Plus is standard on the R1T Launch Edition. Rivian Driver Plus features Highway Assist. Highway Assist steers, brakes, and accelerates under the driver’s supervision. This makes driving through moderate traffic much easier. It also requires the driver’s attention, so drivers are still ultimately in control despite having to do less work.

Driver Plus also features Adaptive Cruise Control. When this feature is activated, it allows the R1T to keep up with the flow of traffic by accelerating and braking itself. Drivers can control their cruising speed and how far they’d like to trail other vehicles. The Ford F-150 Lightning may come with plenty of available driver assistance features but it’s hard to imagine that they’ll be as advanced as the R1T’s features.
