The Ford F-150 Lightning Takes Home Another Award
As one of the first mainstream electric trucks to hit the market, the Ford F-150 Lightning is no stranger to awards. For the short time that it’s been available to the public, the number of accolades the electric F-150 has accrued is fairly impressive. And now, it can add another to the list; this time, it has earned a spot on Wards 10 Best Interior & UX list.
What’s special about the Ford Lightning?
The Ford F-150 Lightning is special because it is the first fully-electric truck put into production by a mainstream manufacturer. The F-Series pickup has long been one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States. And now, the Blue Oval is offering a battery-powered variant.
Sure, before the Ford Lightning, there were trucks like the Rivian R1T. But Rivian is certainly not as established as the Detroit Three, and the F-150 has been around for decades.
Since its introduction, the F-150 Lightning has earned MotorTrend Truck of the Year, Top Rated EV truck from Edmunds, and a Kelley Blue Book 2023 Best Resale Value award. It feels a bit surprising to see such a new pickup truck earn such awards. But, the Ford F-150 Lightning is here before competitors like the Ram 1500 REV and Chevy Silverado EV.
Critics like the interior of the F-150 Lightning
The Ford F-150 Lightning takes the place on the Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX list as one of six all-electric vehicles. In total, judges voted on 21 different vehicles, and scoring was done in a variety of categories.
These categories cover everything from technology to comfort to overall design. And it sounds like the judges were impressed with what they saw in the Ford F-150 Lightning.
When it comes to a truck, you might not think of things like design and user interface being important. But with the cost of the F-150 Lightning climbing above $60k, it makes sense that folks want something that is pleasurable to drive and be in.
According to Car and Driver, the interior of the 2023 Ford Lightning is pretty similar to the internal combustion variants. That seems to be what the Blue Oval is going for. If you’ve seen this electric truck on the road, you might not have even known it was electric. It really does look like a regular F-Series pickup.
Buying Ford’s electric truck feels impossible
If you want to get a Ford F-150 Lightning, the ordering process looks fairly difficult. Orders for the current model year have been closed for some time, but the Blue Oval is looking to change that.
Ford has committed to increasing the production of its electric truck. That way, more folks can actually experience the benefits of an EV with a pickup bed. And as more competition hits the market, supply is going to play a significant factor in where consumers choose to spend their money.
