The Ford F-150 Shelby Super Snake Strikes Fast
Today we have a sssnake that you don’t want to ignore because it’s technically a Ford F-150. It’s pretty safe because it can’t bite you. However, the 2021 Shelby F-150 Super Snake does strike pretty quickly.
The 2021 Shelby F-150 slithers like lightning
There is a new sport truck in town. Only it’s not like the Ford F-150 Raptor or Ram 1500 TRX. It’s more like the Chevrolet 454 SS or the Dodge Ram SRT/10 because the 2021 Shelby F-150 Super Snake is ready to race.
It’s like the traditional Ford Lightning that used to dominate the track before returning as a full-size electric truck. It has a single cab and rides low to the ground as it strikes rivals at the track.
How fast is the 2021 Super Snake?
The 2021 Shelby F-150 Super Snake races from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.45 seconds in the two-door supercharged Sport model. It can also go from zero to 100 mph and back down to a full stop in about 8.3 seconds.
You can get the Super Snake with two or four doors. You can also select a naturally aspirated engine or a supercharged option. In the standard configuration, the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 generates 395 hp. The supercharged increases that figure to 775, which is incredible.
Shelby Vice President, Vince LaViolette, shared that the rumble and whine of the supercharged engine is a symphony of aural mechanical beauty. Basically, the truck is fast and loud in an exciting way.
The Shelby Super Snake also has a new suspension. The Ridetech system includes front adjustable Coilover shocks, upper control arms, rear adjustable shocks, a rear sway bar, and a rear traction bar.
All of the equipment contributes to the aggressive lowered stance. It also includes a ground effects kit and 22-inch Shelby chrome alloy wheels with sticky, low-profile 305/40R22 Toyo Proxes tires. Adjustable shocks and six-piston front brake calipers help control the power.
The Shelby Super Snake looks the part
The 2021 Shelby F-150 super Snake has a redesigned exterior with a front splitter and grille that lists its name. A vented hood and tonneau cover are included too. You can opt for racing stripes and billet emblems with carbon fiber trim.
In the cabin, you’ll find leather seats with scaley red accent stitching, billet racing pedals, a numbered dash plaque, engine palace, and a center console lid badge. Super Snake is embroidered in the headrests.
If you want this truck, strike fast. Shelby is only building 300 units of the four-door options and 300 two-door models. The two-door model with the naturally aspirated engine starts at about $90,790, and the 775-hp model increases the price to $98,690. You can order one at your local Ford dealership.
Ford isn’t building a high-performance street truck because it’s directing buyers to the upcoming V8-powered 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor R. It will provide supercar-like power. But the Shelby F-150 Super Snake does come with a three-year 36,000-mile warranty. The warranty includes the drivetrain.
