Ford Is Finally Increasing Production of the 2023 Maverick Pickup Truck
As a small truck, the 2023 Ford Maverick has been an extremely popular vehicle for the Blue Oval. It is so popular that buying one feels nearly impossible. Even if you are lucky enough to have a Maverick pickup on order, you might be in the dark about when you are supposed to receive it. But there might be a light at the end of the tunnel for 2023 Ford Maverick production. Ford will increase the number of compact pickup trucks it produces.
Is Ford Maverick production delayed?
In terms of production, the Ford Maverick is certainly behind. Simply put, the Blue Oval cannot keep up with the demand for its small truck. Even when orders for the 2023 Maverick were opened, it seemed like they were closed almost immediately. Those sales might be good news for Ford, but it can be frustrating for us consumers.
Fortunately, Ford has plans to increase its popular models’ production. One of these is the Ford Maverick truck. According to Autoblog, the Blue Oval hopes to increase production by over 80,000 units. And hopefully, that means more folks can get their hands on this compact pickup.
The Maverick has serious wait times
The wait time for the Ford Maverick is between five and eight months. Even if you really want this small truck, that’s a big ask to go between putting money down and actually getting one. Due to the high demand and supply chain issues, the Blue Oval is struggling with production. And the Maverick is not the only Ford product to have severe wait times.
That said, Ford’s small truck has earned quite a bit of praise. It is affordable (at least when compared to other trucks) and has legitimate utility. The Maverick might be ideal if you’ve been after a new pickup but don’t like how big something like a full-size model has become.
Will there be a 2024 Ford Maverick?
Undoubtedly, there will be a 2024 Maverick. With this pickup’s popularity, it would be nuts if the Blue Oval canceled it. However, we don’t really know what’s in store for the future of the new Maverick.
There are rumors circulating that Ford has plans to offer a plug-in hybrid Maverick. A PHEV Ford Maverick would benefit folks from a gasoline engine with some electric range. Ford already offers multiple PHEV models, so giving this small truck the same treatment makes sense.
The Maverick Hybrid is one of the most popular variants of this vehicle. Even though you cannot get it with AWD, it seems like that has not deterred folks from getting a more efficient pickup. Another change to the 2024 model could be making AWD available to all Maverick models. That way, consumers do not have to get the EcoBoost engine in order to get that benefit.
In terms of the Ford Maverick’s segment, the only true competitor is the Hyundai Santa Cruz. So whatever Ford has planned, it will likely be to make this vehicle even more competitive than it already is. The first hurdle to clear is upping 2023 Ford Maverick production.
