Ford Keeps Increasing the Price of the 2023 F-150 Lightning
As electric trucks become more popular, some are actually becoming more expensive. If you are interested in a Ford F-150 Lightning, that is something that you might have noticed. And that is because this full-size truck’s MSRP has risen by about $20k in one year. What happened?
Can you buy a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning?
If you wanted a 2023 Ford Lightning, it looks like you’re too late. Orders for the current model year have already been closed due to high demand and supply problems. Sure, the Ford F-150 Lightning has already faced some recall problems, but it seems like folks are still interested in this electric truck.
Believe it or not, recalls might not be the biggest issue this full-size pickup is facing. It’s also had its price risen, by quite a bit, if I’m being honest. When the Ford F-150 Lightning first went on sale, the entry-level Pro model was priced slightly above $40,000. For the 2023 model, that number has gone north of $60k.
Ford is raising the price of the F-150 Lightning
According to Car and Driver, the price of the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning has increased. This rise in MSRP is not without reason, though. The Blue Oval stated that price increases are to help deal with supply chain issues and the current cost of materials. Market factors also play a part in the current cost of the Lightning.
Unfortunately, for those who want Ford’s electric truck, that means they are going to have to shell out some more money. A $20,000 price increase did not happen overnight. Little by little, the Blue Oval has been changing the MSRP. But looking at the big picture, it is pretty eye-opening.
One important thing to mention is that not every F-150 Lightning has had its price increased by the same margin. The biggest increase is definitely for the entry-level Pro model. But that is probably the one a lot of folks were looking at, mostly due to how affordable it was.
Has F-150 Lightning production started again?
Production of the Ford F-150 Lightning has resumed. And actually, the Blue Oval has announced plans to triple the production of its electric truck. In recent months, Ford was forced to stop producing the Lightning.
That was caused by a battery issue, which was a legitimate problem with quality control. Apparently, Ford has fixed the issue. And hopefully, battery problems are resolved for future models. As a battery-powered new truck, it’s not surprising that the brand has faced some troubles.
Of course, we’ll have to wait to see what happens with this full-size truck moving forward. As production ramps up, hopefully, more folks can actually get their hands on the Lightning. And orders for reservation holders are supposed to open in the near future.
One thing is certain, though, prices of this truck have certainly risen. It is no longer something you can pick up for a mere 40 grand.
