Want a New F-150? Too Late. Ford Is sold out of 2022s
On the heels of news that the Ford F-150 Lightning is sold out, Ford sold out the gas-powered regular 2022 F-150, too. According to a recent report, Ford has closed the order books on 2022 F-150 trucks. Usually, dealers have enough year-old inventory left over that they can discount previous-year trucks when the next year comes out. This year dealers won’t have to worry about that.
The Ford F-150 website says, “Due to a combination of high demand and global supply-chain constraints, not all models and trims or features are available to order. Contact your dealer for available inventory stock or future availability.”
According to the report in CarBuzz quoting a memo to dealers, Ford will open orders in July for the 2023 Ford F-150, and its closing its order books on May 19 on the 2022 model. Raptor trucks are still available for order. Ford has said that the continuing chip shortage has caused shortages of trucks. Last year, for example, the problem got so bad that the company was forced to park more than 60,000 unfinished trucks in Kentucky.
The F-150 is sold out, but that’s because it’s popular
The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for more than 30 years.
On the Ford site you can still find F-150s for sale. Some of the listings for 2022s say “Dealer Ordered,” which means the truck is on its way to the dealer.
The news comes after Ford sold out of other models, too. The 2022 Maverick, the new F-150 Lightning, the 2022 Mach-E, and 2022 Bronco are sold out.
