How many times have you been halfway into your workday and felt the overwhelming need to take a power nap? The chances are, this has happened pretty often. Ford’s design team knows this all too well, which is why they created a solution in the 2021 Ford F-150 that’ll greatly aid blue-collar workers.

Ford redesigned the F-150 for 2021, and shoppers can expect this 14th-generation truck to feature many new innovations. Some of these changes include modifications to the truck’s weight, design, and powertrain options. Of course, there’ll be technology additions, too. However, the all-new F-150 has one available feature that just about everyone will love.

Ford announced the development of its patented max recline seats via press release. This exciting feature will make its debut in the 2021 F-150’s King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trim level.

How exactly does this feature work, and will it be practical to use? Let’s examine what Ford had to say about its new product.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is the most relaxing truck on the market

Everyone deserves a little R&R once in a while, especially during long work days or exhausting road trips. Unfortunately, drivers looking to take a quick nap are stuck in awkward positions.

Now, the 2021 Ford F-150’s available max recline seats allow you to rest up in an ultra-comfortable fashion in the driver or passenger seat.

“We know the folks who work on construction or mining sites use their truck cab for naps during downtime, and we learned everyday owners do, too,” said Jackie DiMarco, Ford truck product line director, via the press release.

Ford’s max recline seats fold flat, almost to 180 degrees, so you can actually lie down. However, the true innovation lies in the seat bottom. As the seat reclines, its bottom rises by 3.5 inches, filling in the gap between the cushion and the seatback. Additionally, you can manually adjust the top of the chair to offer better neck comfort.

The manufacturer states that there are no extra motors involved in the creation of this seat compared to the regular version. It is up to the user to properly use the power-recline button to adjust it to their liking.

Is the max recline seat practical?

Some innovations seem revolutionary until you realize they won’t be used too often. However, the 2021 Ford F-150’s max reclining seats likely won’t fall into that category. Whether you’re on a construction site, campground, or just slipping out of the office for a quick break, you can make use of this feature.

Drivers won’t be the only ones to benefit from this new technology. Businesses might encourage employees to use the F-150’s max recline seats, especially if the feature makes its way to lower trim levels in the future.

“Our F-150 customers are constantly on the road or at a jobsite and being able to nab a few minutes of rest really is a boon to daily productivity,” said Ford engineer Ben Kulhawik via the press release.

Additionally, the F-150 is a great camping vehicle, and the max reclining seats make it an even better option for adventurous drivers. It provides a quick sleeping space if you need to rest up before assembling your tent. Plus, the truck provides a comfortable area to cool down when the summer heat becomes unbearable.

Is this new feature worth the money?

The F-150 consistently ranks among the best trucks on the market, so chances are you’re already considering this model. The 2021 Ford F-150 King Ranch is the most affordable trim that offers max recline seats, and it has a starting MSRP of $56,330. However, shoppers will have to pay an extra $340 to get these seats.

All-in-all, if you’re already considering a premium F-150 trim level, then it’s a great idea to shell out the extra money for this feature. After all, you’d pay a few hundred bucks for a decent hotel room. So, why not pay an affordable one-time price to take a nice nap a few times per week?
