The Ford Maverick Hybrid Apologizes With a FITS Kit
Aww, how sweet, the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is here to apologize for the delays. It didn’t have to do that! Plenty of auto manufacturers are facing delays without giving away free stuff. So, let’s see how the Ford Maverick Hybrid is apologizing with a free FITS kit.
The 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid offers free FITS kits
We have some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is almost sold out for the year. But the good news is that if you have already preordered your model, then you may get a free FITS kit.
So, if you want a Maverick Hybrid, get moving. They are expected to be sold out by early November. If you have already ordered your Hybrid model, then relax. It will be on its way soon, assuming that there are no more delays.
The first Ford Maverick Hybrid deliveries aren’t expected until January. But perhaps a free FITS kit will make the wait a little more worth it.
What is a Maverick Hybrid FITS Kit?
FITS kits are not unique to the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid. FITS stands for Ford Integrated Tether System. It consists of T-shaped slots that accept multiple Ford accessories. It also allows owners to 3D-print and design custom pieces.
Ford confirmed that Ford Maverick Hybrid reservation holders would receive a Ford FITS Accessory Kit after accepting delivery of their new trucks. The kit includes a storage bin, bag hooks, a phone cord organizer, a cupholder, and a few dividers for the under-storage area.
These goodies could be pretty helpful. However, some people may just want a new truck in their driveway faster. You can skip the wait by choosing the gasoline-powered Ford Maverick instead of the Hybrid model.
The Hybrid model has fallen slightly behind schedule due to emissions certifications. Ford is currently working to obtain state emissions certifications to begin deliveries by early January. We hope everything stays on track so Hybrid Mavericks can hit the streets.
The EPA’s official site doesn’t list the 2022 Maverick’s fuel economy figures yet. But in a press release, Ford mentions that the Maverick Hybrid gets up to 42 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway.
These figures are linked to the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and the electric motor that make up the hybrid powertrain. It generates 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.
How does the gas-powered Maverick compare?
The 2022 Ford Maverick with the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine pumps out 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. It gets an estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 30 mpg on the highway.
While this is less fuel-efficient than the Hybrid model, it has a few advantages. For example, it can be paired with all-wheel drive and the max tow package, unlike the Maverick Hybrid. It can also tow up to 4,000 lbs instead of only 2,000 lbs.
Upgrading to the turbocharged engine costs $1,085. It may be the best option to get a little truck sooner unless you check out the Hyundai Santa Cruz instead. We’ll keep you updated about the delays.
