The Ford Maverick may be a cheap, small truck. But, this compact pickup truck does offer some premium features which buyers may appreciate. With a starting price of $25,680, the 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat adds more comfort and convenience to an already nice truck. These upgrades include things like vinyl seats, 18.0-inch wheels, and a customizable gauge cluster. For some, these improvements may be worthy of the price increase. Especially for those not shopping for a basic work truck.

The Lariat package adds some exciting tech and components to the Ford Maverick. It includes LED lighting as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additionally, according to MotorTrend, the Lariat package brings dual-zone climate control to the table. This means both driver and passenger can make adjustments to the temperature.

Better yet, heated front seats can be had with the 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat. Because of that, the Ford Maverick can come equipped to handle winter conditions or colder climates. Also notable is the available heated steering wheel. Which will help you keep your hands warm while behind the wheel of your small pickup truck.

Depending on the needs you have from your truck, the Maverick Lariat may be worth the cost. Even with the Lariat package, the 2022 Ford Maverick can still be had for under $30,000 depending on options.

The Lariat package does come standard with Ford’s hybrid powertrain. For an added price of $1,085, buyers can outfit the 2022 Maverick with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. When equipped with the engine, the Maverick benefits from 250 horsepower. Which is a fairly impressive number. Opting for the more powerful engine opens up the option for available all-wheel drive. This feature will run you $3,305. It is worth noting that every Maverick model offers this option.

What makes the Lariat, and mid-trim XLT worth considering is the available FX4 Off-Road package. This package is not available on the base XL model. The FX4 package adds legitimate off-road capability to this small truck. Giving buyers a compact pickup truck that is ready for the road less traveled.

Can you buy the new Ford Maverick?

Unfortunately, Ford has currently paused orders for the 2022 Ford Maverick. This is because the brand was unable to keep up with demand. Ford is expected to reopen orders at some point, but they will be for the 2023 model year.

If you want to experience Ford’s new small truck, the best way may be on the secondary market. Even at a Ford dealership, finding a Maverick may be a game of luck. Shopping on the used market does come with some downsides. Well-equipped Maverick models like the Lariat are currently commanding a premium. This means you are likely to pay over MSRP to get one. But, if you want a small truck, the Maverick is one of the few options on the market today. Unless you look to other brands, such as Hyundai.
