Ford Moved Nearly 10,000 Maverick Trucks in One Month
Since going on sale, the 2022 Ford Maverick has proved itself to be an extremely popular pickup truck. It offers usability, attractive styling, and an affordable price point. Which has led to sales in new demographics for trucks. In fact, in April, Ford was able to move nearly 10,000 units. And that means that it outsold the Ford Ranger by a notable amount. So, why is the 2022 Ford Maverick such a popular compact truck?
The 2022 Maverick is extremely affordable
In a world where trucks are only becoming more expensive, the Ford Maverick attempts to shake that stereotype. With the Maverick, buyers can purchase a pickup for around $20,000 that offers a hybrid powertrain and legitimate practicality. Because of this, it offers a unique value proposition in the world of trucks.
Even the most expensive Maverick small truck falls around $40,000. And while that is not necessarily cheap, modern trucks can easily hit above $60,000. And that has likely helped the Ford Maverick with sales.
Why is the Ford Maverick so cheap?
Ford’s small truck shares its architecture with the Ford Escape and Ford Bronco Sport, this borrowed platform likely helps to make the 2022 Maverick a cheap truck. Additionally, the Maverick is not the most luxurious vehicle in its interior. The infotainment feels slightly dated and the base Maverick lacks things like cruise control.
That said, currently, the Ford Maverick pickup truck is facing dealership markups and limited availability. Right now, paying MSRP may feel like a difficult task. Still, once this compact truck becomes more common, hopefully, it continues to offer its affordability.
The Maverick isn’t a traditional truck
Despite its outward appearance, the 2022 Maverick is not an old-school pickup truck. It has unibody construction which means a more comfortable ride and it does not offer things like a V6 engine. In the world of trucks, six-cylinders have long been a baseline, but that is quickly changing with advancements in the automotive industry.
Although this pickup comes standard with a hybrid powertrain, Ford’s small truck does offer a turbocharged option. With this engine, buyers can opt for all-wheel drive, although that will come with an added cost over the standard package.
When will the 2023 Maverick be available?
According to Car Buzz, the 2023 Maverick will go on sale in April of 2022. Earlier this year, Ford was forced to place a pause on customer orders for the 2022 model. And that is because sales were exceeding Ford’s production abilities.
