Ford has had some trouble getting out new vehicles lately. The brand recently had a string of fiascos related to the new Bronco, and now the Ford Mustang has fallen victim. More specifically, the Mustang Mach 1 and the GT500 are facing some production issues. And, as you’ve surely guessed, the supply chain shortages have something to do with it.

Ford Mustang Mach 1 hit by supply chain woes

Recently, a Ford dealer from Granger, Iowa confirmed that orders of the new Mustang Mach 1 are being canceled by Ford. For those not in the know, dealers don’t really have any control over this. Generally, dealers are a sort of intermediary between us and the manufacturers. So, save your pitchforks for later. Frankly, the dealer sounds like they’re doing all they can for their customers.

However, it could be a good number of orders that were canceled. This Ford Dealer in Granger said that 12 of their Ford Mustang Mach 1 orders were canceled. If that’s the case in Granger, one can’t help but wonder if things are going to be worse in larger areas with more orders. Thankfully, contact information was provided so that customers who were affected can place their orders for 2022.

New car buyers will have to wait

Unfortunately, these Ford Mustang Mach 1 buyers aren’t the only ones being affected by supply chain orders. Chevrolet had to stop Corvette production a while back too. It’s an unfortunate effect of the downsizing that took place during the worst stages of the pandemic. With no one at work due to safety concerns from COVID, suppliers slowed things down to save money and avoid overproducing.

Now, things have ramped back up so quickly that nearly everyone is struggling to keep up with demand. Dealers everywhere are inundated with requests for new vehicles, and that includes models like the Ford Mustang Mach 1 and GT500, as well as others like the Corvette Z06. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to confirm if those GT500 orders are being canceled in addition to the Mach 1 orders.

When will the supply shortages end?

Obviously, this whole Mustang fiasco leaves consumers wondering when things will let up. Unfortunately, this is a butterfly effect. One slow aspect of the supply chain leaves everyone waiting, from producers (like Ford) all the way down to consumers. Really, the best solution here is time. That shiny new Ford Mustang might be the new hot thing (and it certainly is), but it’s not worth paying an absurd markup over. Same goes for you, Bronco buyers. Right now, really all anyone can do is sit tight and wait for the ripples running through the automotive supply chain to calm down a bit.
