Ford Mustang Triple White Edition: Cool As Ice
To celebrate their participation in the Woodward Dream Cruise, Ford is looking back at the history of the Mustang and introducing what they call the “Ice White Edition Appearance Package” for both Ford Mustang coupe and Mustang Mach-E. This package is the first time in 28 years that Ford has offered a white-on-white colorway for the Mustang. That’s right, 90s kids, Ford is taking it back to 1993. For the “youngins” out there, 1993 was the year of the “Fox body” style Mustang.
“Mustang has always had the power to attract attention on the road, but the new Mustang Ice White Edition could – just like the original ’93 Triple White Fox body feature Mustang – become one of the hot collectibles of future generations,” said Jim Owens, Mustang brand marketing manager. “We are proud to continue a longstanding Mustang tradition of continuously offering fresh, new styling options for customers to empower them to make their Mustang an extension of who they are.”
Ford will offer the Ice White Edition package for both the Mustang coupe and the Mustang Mach-E.
Ice White Edition Mustang Mach-E
Ford’s current EV darling, the Mach-E, is currently one of the strongest contenders to Tesla right now. In the opinion of some reviewers, the Mach-E certainly has more style than a Tesla Model X. To draw customers who put more weight on style versus battery range; Ford is exclusively offering the new Mustang Ice White Edition Appearance Package on Mustang Mach-E Premium models.
The Mach-E Premium will be sprayed in “Star White Metallic Tri-Coat” paint and includes “Star White” mirror caps and wheel lip moldings. Ford refers to it as “icing out” the exterior. Seriously, they said that. The front grille will feature an “Oxford White” pony badge. The white badge will also feature on the rear of the car between the taillights. The package includes 19-inch wheels also finished in the same Oxford White paint found on the pony badges.
Anyone interested in adding this package to their 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be able to place their order this Fall, with cars shipping out to dealers early next year.
Ice White Edition Mustang Coupe
We speculate that Mustang Coupe buyers will be more likely to spring for this Ice White package. Nostalgia is a powerful influencer. Customers who may have been in their early teens back in ‘93 might have powerful memories of the white package on the 90s Mustang. It was a rare, coveted option. Ford only produced 1,500 Triple White Fox body Mustangs. By the way, all of those Mustangs were convertibles.
The Mustang Ice White Edition will be available for EcoBoost and GT Premium fastback models. Each car will be exclusively sprayed in Oxford White paint and has “iced-out” taillights and 19-inch wheels in matching Oxford White finish. Like the Ice White Edition Mustang Mach-E, the Ice White Mustang coupe will have Oxford White pony badges and fender badging.
EcoBoost and GT Mustangs with the Ice White package will start hitting dealerships next year.
Appealing to nostalgic enthusiasts is always a bold move for any automotive manufacturer, so the success of this package will likely dictate if Ford continues to have similar offerings in the future.
