It seems like this week all we write about at Motorbiscuit is what we can’t have in the US. Yeah, we know that China has taken over as the largest market for cars in the world. But most of what we lament about not getting is for Europe or South America. Case in point: These tricked out 2021 Ford Transit vans not in the US but in Europe. Yes, you can order one of these vans directly from Ford. Even the paint colors are unique. Hey Ford, you need to offer these tricked-out 2021 Transit vans in the US.

We know that the days of the 1970s vanners are gone, but that’s not what we see here. If you need a Transit van for your business why not give it a little swagger? Let clients and the general public know you’re something a bit different from the competition? 

The zoomy styling is inspired by the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team’s Fiesta WRC car

These are called MS-RT Transit or Transit Connect from Ford of Europe. The zoomy styling is inspired by the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team’s Fiesta WRC car. Though that racing series is not part of the US lexicon, we don’t need a reference to see we like these. They still retain all of the commercial van practicalities. That includes the Ford warranty. But they look great and have some presence. 

Ford hypes, “With stunning, authentic motorsport design and – for the Transit Custom – the option to personalize with a huge range of head-turning colors, the MS-RT Transits are like no other vans on the road,” said Brendan Lyne, Ford of Europe Commercial Vehicles. “MS-RT conversions mean our motorsport-loving customers can mix business with pleasure, safe in the knowledge that their modified vehicle is fully supported by Ford.”

Let’s see what we see. These come with restyled grilles and redesigned front fascias with more aggressive-looking air intakes, integrated fog lights, and a tasty front splitter. You’ll also see the wide wheel arch extensions highlighting the 18-inch OZ Racing anthracite alloys, and complementing the sporty side skirts that help to lower the profile.

In the rear, there’s an integrated diffuser element, a roof spoiler, and in the case of the Transit Custom, a twin-pipe sports exhaust (the Connect gets a nice quad-exhaust system). Buyers can specify optional Ceramic Black exhaust tips. Unique colors from Ford’s SVO range can go with optional decal kits. We might be able to do without the geeky decals but they’re not integral to the packages. 

The interior houses handcrafted MS-RT Nappa leather and suede seats, an MS-RT sports steering wheel with carbon fiber inlays, and MS-RT branded instrument clocks and floor mats. Standard features include sat-nav, rear-view camera, bi-xenon headlights, plus the SYNC3 color touchscreen and a FordPass Connect modem with Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 10 devices.

The only downside is that there’s nothing to crank up the horsepower to go along with the exterior. The MS-RT Transit Custom comes with a 185 PS (182 HP) 2.0-liter EcoTec engine with 306 lb-ft of torque. You also get a choice of either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.

The MS-RT Transit Connect is powered by a 118 hp 1.5-liter EcoTec unit, with 200 lb-ft of torque. You can have this model with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed auto.
