Let’s get ready to rumble as the Ford Ranger Raptor tries to answer the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Is the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor the new off-roading king, or is it just a nice try? Let’s see how it compares to the Tacoma TRD Pro.

You can wait on the new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor to arrive next year, or you could get started with a 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro now. So, is the Ranger Raptor worth waiting for? It’s a little unfair that other countries will get this truck first.

The new Ranger Raptor is rumored to start at about $52,500. The official pricing hasn’t been released. The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro begins at around $46,135. These prices are the MSRPs and don’t include destination fees or dealership markups.

Also, here’s another thing to consider. The 2023 Toyota Tacoma will be redesigned, so it will have fresh upgrades to revival the 2023 Ranger.

Does the Tacoma TRD Pro or Ranger Raptor perform better?

Everyone is drooling over the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 392 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Rumors suggest that the Ranger Raptor will be reduced to 288 hp and 491 lb-ft of torque in America.

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. It looks like the Ranger Raptor may take the cake when it comes to torque. However, the TRD Pro is available with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Ranger Raptor may only have a 10-speed automatic transmission in America.

According to Car and Driver, the Ford Ranger Raptor has 2.5-inch diameter Live Valve internal bypass shock absorbers with position-sensitive dampening. The shocks are filled with Teflon-infused oil to reduce friction by 50 percent.

It also has a reinforced chaise and lighter suspension primarily consisting of aluminum. It has a two-speed transfer case and locking differentials in the front and rear. There are multiple off-roading modes, and you can adjust how loud the truck roars.

With the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, you get skid plates, machine forged upper control arms, and TRD-tuned Fox internal bypass shocks with 2.5-inch aluminum housings. They provide an additional inch of rebound travel.

On the 22-degree RTI ramp, the Tacoma climbed up 65 inches. It’s currently the second most flexible truck. Only the Ford F-150 Raptor was able to beat it. We can’t wait to see how the Ford Ranger Raptor compares.

Does the Tacoma or Ranger Raptor have better features?

The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor rides on 33-inch BF Goodrich K02 all-terrain tires. Also, 17-inch bead-lock capable wheels are available. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has 16-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Territory All-Terrain 265/70R16 tires.

One advantage of the Raptor Ranger includes its updated interior with high-quality materials. It features a 12-inch vertically oriented touchscreen and a digital gauge cluster. It’s powered by Ford Sync 4A software.

The Tacoma TRD Pro is starting to feel dated due to having tons of hard plastics in the interior. But it does come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It doesn’t offer a mobile hotspot as its rivals do.

We need to see how the Ford Ranger Raptor performs against the Tacoma TRD Pro. It costs more and may have more torque. But so far, the biggest advantage is its updated interior.
