Ford Is Sending the 1st Production 2021 Bronco and Mustang Mach 1 to Auction
The 2021 Ford Bronco and the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 are undoubtedly a couple of the year’s most anticipated models. Now, you can get your hands on a piece of automotive history by purchasing the VIN 001 next month.
Doing so obviously won’t come cheap. These highly desirable models will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, and both vehicles will likely fetch an impressive sum.
Where will the auction take place, and why are these special Bronco and Mustang models being sold in this fashion? We’ll take a more in-depth look at what’s going on behind the scenes to answer these questions.
Where will the VIN 001 Bronco and Mustang Mach 1 be auctioned off?
You can bid to purchase one of these once-in-a-lifetime models at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. This event will take place from March 20-27, 2021.
Ford isn’t using this auction as a simple cash grab. Instead, the money will go toward a commendable cause.
According to Ford Authority, the money from the sales of the first-ever 2021 Ford Bronco and 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 will be donated to charity.
The organizers found a natural fit to benefit from the adventurous 2021 Ford Bronco. All the proceeds from the VIN 001 of the rugged off-road SUV will be donated to the National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound.
This effort already aligns with Ford’s Bronco Wild Fund. This initiative helps to preserve wildlife by supporting nonprofits like the National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound.
The American automaker also recently revealed a concept Bronco Wildland Fire Rig to help highlight its fund.
Meanwhile, Barrett-Jackson will donate the total sale price of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.)
How are the first-production 2021 Ford Bronco and Mustang Mach 1 spec’d?
Many car enthusiasts believed they missed the boat on acquiring a new Bronco First Edition. However, they’ll have one more chance at getting one at the Barrett-Jackson auction.
This two-door model dons Lightning Blue exterior paint, a Safari Bar, and a painted black hardtop. Like all First Edition models, the VIN 001 comes with special badging and graphics that make it stand out from the rest of the trim lineup.
The 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition also comes with the upgraded 310-hp 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Ford mated powertrain to a 10-speed automatic transmission and an advanced four-wheel-drive system.
Meanwhile, Ford painted the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 VIN 001 in Fighter Jet Gray. Additionally, it equipped the pony car with the optional Handling Package. This setup includes unique 19-inch aluminum wheels with special tires, adjustable strut top mounts, a decklid spoiler, and more.
The Mach 1 is one of the 2021 Mustang’s highest trim levels, and drivers should expect thrilling performance. Its 5.0-liter V8 engine kicks out 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, Ford pairs it with a six-speed manual transmission for a hands-on driving experience and Brembo front brake calipers for ultimate stopping power.
Unique models don’t come cheap
This isn’t the first instance that Ford has sold a first-production model to benefit charity. In fact, auctions like the first-production 2021 Ford Bronco and Mustang Mach 1 happen quite often.
Ford auctioned the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt VIN 001 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in 2018.
According to a Ford press release, an attendee purchased the car for $300,000. The company donated the entire sum to the Boys Republic all-boys private school for troubled adolescents.
So, be prepared to pay well above the MSRP if you’re interested in buying a VIN 001 2021 Ford Bronco or 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1.
