Ford is known for selling some of the most popular SUVs. Models such as the Bronco offer quite a bit more than what rivals bring to the table. Which SUVs is the Blue Oval offering for the 2023 model year? Let’s take a look at the lineup.

Ford EcoSport

If you’re looking for an inexpensive vehicle with pretty good gas mileage, the EcoSport is the one to go for. For a subcompact SUV, this model can get 29 mpg on the highway and comes with a $22,040 price tag for the base model. Its highest trim is the Titanium, starting at $28,395. Powering it is a 2.0-liter TI-VCT inline-four engine, which comes with the brand’s auto start/stop technology. 

Ford Escape

According to Ford, the most fuel-efficient SUV is the Escape, which gets 34 mpg on the highway for the gasoline-powered version and 37 mpg on the highway for the hybrid powertrain. With this compact crossover model, you get five driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, and Deep Snow/Sand. With Ford’s Co-Pilot360 Technology, you’ll get a plethora of driver’s assistance features, standard and optional. For example, it offers Active Park Assist 2.0, Evasive Steering Assist, and a Voice-Activated Navigational System, to name a few. Pricing begins at $27,185 and can go as high as $40,700 for the Titanium plug-in hybrid version. 

Ford Bronco Sport

The 2023 model year brings two new trims to the lineup: the Heritage and Heritage Limited. Ford offers 7.8-inches of ground clearance for this compact SUV, which is impressive, but overall, the model is closer to the size of a subcompact SUV as far as length goes. The Bronco Sport is more expensive than its rivals (starting at $29,215) and only offers 28 mpg on the highway.

Ford Bronco

Ford’s Bronco model comes in two-door and four-door configurations, which can seat four to five passengers. You can expect a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, producing 300 hp, paired with a seven-speed manual on the two-door versions. A 2.7-liter (330 hp) is available for extra money, and the four-door models get a 10-speed automatic transmission. With 83 cubic feet of cargo space (4-door version) on this compact SUV, you’ll have enough room for your adventuring off-roading gear. Pricing begins at $31,300. 

Ford Edge

One of Ford’s midsize SUVs, this model comes with plenty of safety features, no matter which version you pick, due to the brand’s standard Co-Pilot360 technology. You get 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space and an Intelligent AWD system. Prices start at $37,945 for the base model. However, Ford has discontinued the Edge and will no longer be making it for American consumers after 2023.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

The Mustang Mach-E is an all-electric SUV based on the popular gas-powered Mustang models. Its 2023 version will start at $46,895 for the base, but you might qualify for the $7,500 tax credit if you buy one. As for driving range, you get a standard or extended range version, which offers up to 314 miles on a single charge, according to Edmund’s. 

Ford Explorer 

The Explorer is one of Ford’s midsize SUVs and seats up to seven passengers. Fuel economy isn’t too bad, offering 28 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg on city roads (Explorer ST gets 25 mpg on the highway). As for the price, you can expect to pay around $35,510.

Powering it is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine for the lower trims. The Limited and Platinum versions offer a 3.3-liter hybrid system, and the higher (non-hybrid) models get a 3.0-liter V6. This SUV lives up to its name by offering plenty of towing features to be able to haul around 5,600 pounds. 

Ford Expedition/Expedition Max

Ford’s full-size SUV, the Expedition, runs on a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine producing 380 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Paired with it is a 10-speed automatic select-shift transmission. Its Timberline model, however, offers a higher-output engine, which generates 440 hp and 510 lb-ft. Prices begin at $53,375 and can go as high as $81,560 (before adding features).

You can also expect an independent front and rear suspension, active grille shutters for the engine, and 19 to 23 mpg on the highway. With its roomy interior and plenty of off-roading features available, this SUV will appeal to vacationing families and off-roading enthusiasts.
