You probably think that the Ford truck with the best sales increase is the Ford Maverick. That’s a solid guess, but think again. Another Ford model with a recent refresh just took center stage. See how the Ford Ranger is turning things around. 

The Ford truck with the best sales increase is the Ford Ranger

If you thought the Ford truck with the biggest sales increase was the F-150, then you were pretty close. It’s been the most popular truck with growing sales for decades. 

However, the truck with the biggest sales increase is actually the smaller Ford Ranger. The Ranger sold 2,069 trucks in 2023. This figure increased to 5,660 units in August 2024. 

The Ranger experienced a 173.6% sales increase year-over-year. But it still has a long way to go if it wants to catch up with rivals. 

In August 2003, the Ford F-150 Lightning moved 1,018 models. It moved 2,654 models in 2024 for a 160.7% sales increase. 

The Ford Maverick sold 8,299 models in August 2023 and 10,269 models in August 2024. It experienced a 10,269 sales increase. 

Last but not least, the Ford F-150 sold 63,287 units in August 2023. It sold 70,701 models in August 2024 for an 11.7% sales increase.

The Toyota Tacoma sold 22,131 models in August 2023 and 20,770 models in August 2024. Although it faces declining sales, it still has a significant lead over the Ford Ranger. 

Both the Tacoma and Ranger had a slow start to the year because both trucks were completely redesigned for 2024. Factories had to be retooled to build the new truck models. 

While production of the Tacoma moved to Mexico, the Ranger was delayed because it shares a production line with the Ford Bronco. Ford decided to complete existing Bronco orders before ramping up Ranger production. 

Rumors suggest that each Ford truck will benefit from increased sales as production improves. There are still a few months in the year to see if this trend continues.
