Ford’s Jim Farley Brags About Project T3 Beating the Cybertruck
No matter how you feel about electric vehicles, the battle between electric trucks rages on. You don’t have to buy the Ford F-150 Lighting or Tesla Cybertruck, but you can still enjoy the fight. Apparently, the T3 Project, or the next electric Ford truck already beats the Cybertruck.
Ford is allegedly building a better electric truck
The battle between electric trucks has been mostly professional. Elon Musk congratulated Ford CEO, Jim Farley during the release of the Ford F-150 Lightning, and Jim returned the favor during the Tesla Cybertruck.
But behind the scenes, there’s a ton of smack talk. Elon Musk claimed that the Cybertruck would embarrass the F-150 Lightning. We’re still waiting to see how it holds up, but it didn’t live up to a few promises.
For example, it has 320 miles of range instead of 500 and can only tow up to 11,000 lbs instead of 14,000 lbs. But the F-150 Lightning also drops range at a rapid rate while towing.
After seeing the Tesla Cybertruck, Farley feels pretty confident that the next electric Ford truck will mop the floor with the Cybertruck. He brags that when the next-generation Ford F-150 Lightning will be superior.
Not much is known about the truck except for its current T3 Project code name. T3 refers to Trust the Truck, and it will be built in the new BlueOval city complex in Tenessee. Production is currently slated to begin in 2025.
The truck will provide an array of digital experiences. It’s being designed to be easy to update and simple. It could use 48-volt architecture like the Cybertruck, too.
Farley shared that he’s been spending time in the project development center with Doug Field and Alan Clark. He can’t contain his excitement and wishes we could see the second and third-generation electric vehicles that are being worked on.
He continued to share that the all-new second-generation full-size electric truck is one of the most exciting vehicles he’s ever seen.
Farley explained it has a stunning performance in a way that a truck has never performed before with unexpected abilities and innovation that goes beyond normal truck attributes.
The cabin is super flexible and you can take the wheels off only to still have your mind blown. The digital experience is totally immersive and personalized. He finished by saying he’d take this new truck seven days a week over the Cybertruck.
Also, the T3 Project has been compared to the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars. So, stay tuned for updates. Can the T3 Project talk the talk and walk the walk?
